When car is coming to a stop it lurches foward, it all most feels like someone ran into the back of the car. Some other times if you do not come to a complete stop and step on the accelerator to start going again, the engine revs but the car does not move. This last 3 to 5 seconds then all of a sudden there is a bang and the car lurches foward. Both these items are intermittent but are getting worse. I feel they are a safety item, it could cause the car to bump into someone else or hesitate when pulling into traffic.
At 45 mph vehicle lost power from transmission to wheels. It seemed to be slipping, and then it would grab and the vehicle would lurch. At times there was little or no control of the vehicle. Subsequently, the transmission was consistently upshifting late and downshifting early, and sometimes slipping. One repair shop could not determine what was causing the problem. Gene evans Ford quickly determined that a faulty vehicle speed sensor was the cause. (this also caused the cruise control to be inop). They replaced the sensor and the transmission and cruise control have performed flawlessly. The part cost $36.58. Labor was $305.46. The total bill came to $369.60. I consider this to be a safety issue, and I would like Ford to reimburse me for this cost. 6
When cruise control was set at 60 mph, it would not disengage when stepping on brake pedal. Vehicle slowed down a little, but resumed speed as soon as driver took foot off brake pedal. Cruise control disengaged when using the switch. Brake switch was replaced a year and 1/2 ago for the same problem. However, the problem came back. Dealer has not been contacted.
Vehicle experiences problem whenever cruise control is engaged and brake pedal is applied. Instead of cruisecontrol disengaging, vehicle suddenly goes into a aceleration mod. Consumer would have to shift vehicle into neutral and turn off ignition switch to disengage cruise control. Dealer notified.
Cruise control got stuck while driving and increased to 90 mph. Consumer could not turn cruise control off--driver had to shut the vehicle completely off, put the vehicle in neutral, and coast off the road to prevent accident. Owner disengaged cruise control to prevent problem from occurring again. Dealer notified, but did not provide any help.
While driving vehicle suddenly acclerated to 90 mph in seconds. Driver applied the brakes and they were inoperative. Had to use the emergency parking brake in order to stop vehicle. Dealer said it might be the passing gear or a vaccum hose which may have been clogged. Please provide further information and VIN#.
Cruise control is working intermittently, and sometimes doesn't work at all. Began failing in cold weather only. There is a recall for this problem but vehicle is not included in recall.
