Car started to loose power steering, radio and wipers when in gear. In Neutral everything works. I found that this is a common problem with 1996 Ford taurus cars and it is the neutral safety switch (also called transmission range sensor). Replace it and the problem is gone.

My wife keeps telling me the following, although when I drive it, it does not happen of course. Radio shuts off when you switch gears. Seat belt flashes intermittingly. Steering sometimes disappears, like there is no power steering. Windows will occasionally stop working. Car starts and runs fine and the transmission works ok. Thought is might be a bad ground? Any suggestions on what is going on? The belt that runs the alternator and power steering appears to be fine.

Taurus LX 3.2L

Almost positive my alternator is out. I've had it die on me 4 times, replaced the battery and now when I was driving home my power steering went out on a straight road and I saw the seat belt light on. This morning as I backed out of my driveway the power steering went out again and the seat belt light was still on. I also have had issues with it idling very low sometimes to the point where it will die.
