Was driving and all of a sudden the speedometer started jumping around, when I stepped on the gas the RPM's reved up high. I stopped at the stop sign and the car accelerated by itself into the intersection I came close to hitting another car! I have had the vehicle speed sensor replaced twice already and the transmission replaced. As I was driving it home the car hesitated in the intersection then jerked you can feel the pulsing of the car as it accelerates and deaccelerates. It is a safety hazzard

May 2016 I was driving my car and it felt like the transmission was slipping and the speedometer was all out of whack, the RPM's were going higher as I stepped on the gas pedal. I had the transmission replaced, the car has had more problems and was broke down for almost the remainder of the year. Dec. 2016 had a new starter, power steering pulley, and serpentine belt replaced. Car ran great for 3 days then the speedometer wasn't working and felt like the transmission is slipping or completely going out. I can't afford to repair this car I just finished paying off the $900 transmission job, plus I am still paying on the car! I am a single mother on disability with no money for repairs or another car. Please help.

The throttle cable broke and has to be replaced. I've noticed there was a recall for the throttle cable specifically but I cannot find information regarding this with the NHTSA.

Got a transmission leak, the transmission pan seals were replaced as they were wet and transmission was flushed and refilled. Next day the car was still leaking transmission fluid brought it back to shop where the seals in the transmission pump were shredded. Was replaced and again transmission was flushed and filled. Get transmission back in car and O/D light is on. Replaced the cables and siliniod pack. Next day driving the car at 10 mph the car lost power and was like in neutral. Parked car and shut it off. Towed to mechanic and he said transmission is busted/broke and needs replacing. After reading here seems this transmission on this year of car is crap and needs to be recalled!! please make them recall this transmission and pay owners for there screw up!! this is crap I love my car and now this. Maybe I go foreign. Ps no federal bailout for them as they don't help there customers thats why there failing. Good car bad transmission /customer support!!!!!

I was going down he interstate with my 3 kids when my car stopped accelerating. It acted like it was in neutral, the engine was running and the RPM's would go up when I pressed on the gas pedal but it wouldn't accelerate anymore. I had to merge over 3 lanes of interstate traffic to get to the shoulder and luckily got to stop before we went over a bridge! I had it towed to a shop and they just called to tell me it is the torque converter and they just replaced one a few weeks ago. I looked online and this seems to be a common problem with this car.

A 51 point inspection done on a 1999 Ford Taurus I purchased that had the following safety issues: Cracked brakes, loose pinion rod, transmission, steering wheel off center to name a few items. Required a flushing, oil, etc. I had to pay out of pocket to have most of these items repaired or replaced. Some old parts are available, but I also have documentation to support my complaint. I have not had the transmission fixed due to funds. These items are a safety issue and could have cause a major accident.

My husband and I had the vehicle for approximately 18 months when it started making a grinding noise. We took it to the dealership who said there was nothing wrong with it. We then took it to 2 mechanics. Just low on fluid, no other problems. We checked the fluid before we drove it after that. The levels were never low. One day on my home, I had stopped for a light on a hill. When the light changed, the car started rolling backward. I put my foot on the brake and put the car in park, then waited for the light to change again. The second time I tried, the car jerked and lunged forward. I told my husband about it when I got home and he called the dealership again. We checked the fluid again, no change. It will go into gear if the engine is cold. But once it warms up, nothing. This vehicle has been sitting in my driveway for 3 years, taking up space and collecting dust. The dealership insisted there was nothing wrong with it and that there were no recalls on the transmission. A third independent mechanic told us the transmission was fried. It will cost roughly $3,000 to fix it. My husband passed away and I refuse to put any more money into this piece of junk. I also refuse to make any more payments on it. I can't sell it because it won't move. Ford motor credit will not release the title until it's paid for but won't come and get it. I can't take it to them. I want my money back, or I want it fixed. The dealership who sold it to my husband sold out to someone else and there is no record of us ever bringing it to them. Now what?

The consumer replaced the transmission three times. The vehicle could not be registered since it will not pass emission. (11/29/05) the frame was twisted and the torque converter failed. There was also a hit and run accident. On another occasion a tire had blown out. The consumer was denied reimbursement for the tfi module replacements.

At 20,000 miles the transmission was rebuilt because of shifting problems. At 70,000 same problem again. Ford said this problem was rare so did not cover. My easy care policy ($1500) would not cover because I didn't have transmission serviced at 50,000 miles. I argued that transmission fluid changing would not have prevented this problem as it was an ongoing problem with Ford Taurus transmissions.still driving at 93000 miles. Slipping, shifting erratic and shifting hard.

Swaybar endlinks are junk but dealer insists oem only way to go. Aodx transmission kicks in and out. Now experiencing P0500 code (faulty speed sensor)? rear brakes have always squeeled (even with oem pads) have had two apparent blowouts of pass side seal in rack.
