The contact owns a 1999 Ford Taurus. The contact stated that the front driver's side tire flattened. Upon further inspection, a technician stated that the front coil spring fractured and punctured a hole through the tire. The dealer stated that the VIN was excluded from NHTSA campaign id number 04V332000 (suspension:front:springs:coil springs); therefore, the contact would have to pay $900 for the repair. The vehicle has not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 96,000.

I have a 1996 Ford Taurus and a 1999 Ford Taurus. I have had three incidents (2 with the 1996 model and one with the 1999 model) where the right front tires have blown due to low inflation pressure. I have rotated tires, changed brands of tires, replaced valve stems, etc. Yet the problem remains; the right front tires always lose pressure at a significantly more rapid rate than any of the other three tires. There must be some issue with the suspension, or something. These tires have not had any abnormal stress or damage due to hitting curbs or anything similar to that.

Shortly after purchasing my Taurus I noticed a slight vibration when braking. It was very minor and I did not worry about it - thinking it was a knot on a tire. It got steadily worse and when I had a mechanic look at it he told me I needed new tie rod ends. The front tires had both worn to the steel belts. I replaced both the tie rod ends and the tires. Now I am still feeling the shudder when I brake and last week I started noticeing the steering was getting difficult and humming as I turned. I took the car to the mechanic today and he said the rack and pinion was leaking and needed to be replaced. He suggested your website and I have found numerous other people with the same problem. Ford needs to do something about this, it seems to be getting out of hand. I hope you can pressure them into standing behind their product and do what is fair.

While driving vehicle, noticed a clunking noise coming from of vehicle. Took vehicle to dealership, they couldn;T locate the problem. Clunking noise continued. My son said I should take the car back to the dealership. On second visit to dealership, had servie manager drive vehicle. In their parking lot, drove over a speed bump, heard loud clunking sound. The car was put on the hoist, they couldn't find any problem. A week later, received a phone call from customer service. The service representative was informed the vehicle stilling making clunking noise. Took vehicle back to dealership and had service manager ride with me. Drove on bumpy section of interstate, car taken back to dealership. They found the front stabilizer bar had broken at the rubber bushing connection. Parts for the stabilzer bar have been on national back order for over 2 1/2 month.

I just purchases a new 1999 4-door Ford Taurus SE on 5/3/99. I sent the car back to be repaired to the manufacturer 2 times in the last month to have the problem corrected. The problem still exists. I am meeting with the general manager stephen dinger sometime this week to have him come along for a test drive to witness first hand the shaking of the front end. We have been told that it is a tire problem, and that the technicians have repaired the problem, but the front end and steering wheel still shakes quite significantly over 60mph. Can you help me with any advise on how to go about getting out of the lease or having the manugfacturer somehow give us a new vehicle seeing that this problem does not appear to be just a tire balance problem. Thank you.
