Transmission issues not resolved. In August of 2002(65,445 miles), replaced a sensor and slipping transmission was fixed. In October of 2003 replaced transmission (86,150 miles) and problem is still occurring.
I have had my car for 2 years and in that time I have had the transmission replaced twice and rebuilt once. Everytime I have had it worked on it was because the car would not go into gear. I have also had to replace a speed sensor, O2 sensor, and a transmission turbo sensor. All of this has happened from 6-02 thu 10-03.
The consumer stated that the original transmission failed at 50,000 miles and was replaced. A second transmission was replaced and it has currently failed. The consumer was given a 3 year/36000 miles warranty, whichever came first. Also, transmission was leaking fluid. He took vehicle to the mechanic/dealer, and was told that he had bad hub seals that needed to be replaced replacing at the tune of $1200. The transmission had been leaking for 2 weeks.
While driving at 35mph car would not automatically shift into the next gear. The more accelaration was attempted, the harder the engine pushed and the higher the rpms went without changing gear. Took to dealership who have yet to look at problem.

Transmisson is causing vehicle to stay in neutral like gear while accelorating, high RPM's reached without changing gears or picking up speed. Speedometor goes out while driving from time to time usually during transmission failure. Took to specialist who quoted $2,300 to fix now more if completely goes out. Specialist stated it was the third 1999 Ford Taurus seen this year alone.
The shifter transmission cable broke, which resulted in the transmission being stuck in gear while driving. The consumer loss control of the vehicle. The dealer advised the replacement part had been modified from the original, and gave no further details. Scc
At 66,666 miles transmission failed while driving. I went to make a right hand turn and applied gas and it just revved like it was in neutral. Now any gear you put it in it just revvs. Ford has been aware of this problem for awhile.
Backing out of driveway when the vehicle suddenly accelerated. Had the same problem several times before. Had taken to dealership each time for accelerating and nothing was found wrong with transmission.
While driving 35 mph consumer applied accelerator, speed did not increase. Consumer coasted to side of road. Then, had vehicle towed to dealer. Transmission had to be replaced.
While in park, vehicle will not go into reverse or forward. Dealer notified. Steering column was discovered to be broken broken. Consumer stateed that the transmission cable broke, while in park.
Consumer states even when pressing on brakes, the vehicle will try to move forward or jerk. Contacted dealer. Consumer states vehicle leaks oil in the hood area on the right side, also smokes and there is a noise on the right side when consumers foot is on the brake.
Vehicle suddenly and intermittently accelerates, vehicle has been into dealership on several occasions, but has been unable to duplicate the problem.. consumer stated the vehicle downshifts hard at times into low gear and jerks when put into reverse.
