This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
While driving 35-40 mph, the front passenger side wheel separated from the vehicle. No injuries to report. The vehicle was towed to the repair shop. The mechanic informed the consumer that all the lug nuts had shear off. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified.
Vehicle's left rear tire fell off. Mr while the consumer was on the deceleration ramp to a plaza the left rear wheel fell off. The wheel went into the parking area, struck a vehicle then bounced and hit another vehicle. The wheel came to rest between the two vehicles (Ohio traffic crash report).
On left rear wheel, the nut which holds the tire to the spindle spun off of the axle/spindle assembly while driving on the interstate. The entire wheel/drum assembly parted from the vehicle and bounced off down the road as I was driving. Major mechanical failure in the parts which are machined not to come loose, but additionally there are no safety mechanisms to prevent this from happening again to other drivers or owners of this vehicle.
