Consumer complained about rear coil spring problem.. while driving driver heard a rubbing noise under the rear of the vehicle. When the vehicle was inspected it was discovered that the rear coil springs were fractured on both sides of the vehicle, and the fracture was covered with rust which was an indication that the coil springs were damaged long before they broke....consumer had the old springs in his possession if inspection was needed. Also, indicated the rear coil spring failure was similar to the manufacturer's recall 04S17. However, Ford denied consumer's request for reimbursement that manufacturer's recall was only for front coil spring failure.
Driver was backing out of parking space and the right side collapsed to the ground, and the tire blew out. Vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that right side coil spring and tire needed to be replaced.
Consumer complained about a rear coil spring problem. While backing out of the driveway rear coil spring broke, causing the spring to puncture the left rear tire. Owner contacted the manufacturer, and was told that repair for the rear spring will be at the owner's expense. They repaired spring and struts. Bill was $760 and thye billed the consumer for $100. They do not have protective shields for rear springs. It is still an unsafe car to drive.
The vehicle started shaking, and then the left rear tire blew out. The mechanic informed the driver that the rear coil springs and struts needed to be replaced. Please provide additional information.
While driving 5 mph rear coil springs punctured the rear tires. Consumer had the tires changed. Dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

Rear coil springs fractured and rubbed on rear tire. Had to replace both rear coil springs and 1 tire. When rear coil spring fractured it caused the rear strut to break the upper strut mount because the vehicle was sagging in the back. I also had the front coil springs replaced under a existing safety recall because they were fractured to.
The consumer is experiencing a problem with the rear coil springs. The rear coil springs snapped going into the rear tire. The consumer had the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the front coil springs are being recalled but not the rear. Provide further details.......consumer stated right rear coil spring broke/removed and replaced.
Consumer heard a rubbing sound from the rear. Consumer took the vehicle to a mechanic for inspection, and mechanic determined that rear spring rusted and snapped, scoring the left rear tire. Vehicle experienced the same problem, but for the rear.

While driving at 30 mph consumer heard a loud noise coming from the left rear, the left coil spring on the driver's broke. The vehicle was towed to consumer's house. Dealership and manufacturer were notified.
While driving 50 mph, the consumer heard a loud noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. The consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle and pulled over. The consumer noticed that the left side of the vehicle was lower than the right side. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection. The cause has not been determined at this time. It was determined that the passenger side rear coil spring broke.
While driving at 25 mph consumer heard a loud noise coming from the rear driver's side wheel, consumer pulled the vehicle of the road. Then, vehicle was towed to the independent shop, and mechanic determined rear coil spring on the driver's side broke and punctured the tire.
The rear right coil spring broke while the vehicle was parked in the driveway. Upon attempting to reverse out of the driveway consumer felt the broken coil spring rubbing heavily against the rear right tire. Consumer felt that the rear coil spring broke as described in the front coil spring recall 04V332000. Right rear tire was punctured.
While reversing, suddenly there was a crashing noise. Upon exiting the vehicle the consumer noticed that the right side of the vehicle was lower than the left side. The vehicle had to be towed to a mechanic because vehicle can't be driven. The service man indicated that the rear coil spring was corroded and cracked. This resulted in the rear right side coil spring collapsing and lying against the tire.
While driving consumer heard a loud popping noise coming from the rear. Consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic determined that the rear coil spring needed to be replaced.
