Taurus 3.0L

The fuel gauge bottoms out randomly, even if the tank is full. Had the shop look at it, said it needed a new fuel level gauge. So they dropped the tank and put in a new gauge for $400 but it did not fix it because it still does it. I suspect a ground wire issue.

This is only the latest in a series of problems with this stupid car. I went to pick up my son from school, and it was acting like it was going to stall. I had over a quarter of a tank of gas at the time. Next thing I know while I'm letting it warm up, the fuel lever goes instantly to E. I click to see how much gas I have left, and it is saying Fuel Comp Err. I just went out to start it to see if it was still messed up, and now it's saying Low Fuel Level! WTF?!?!? This car was great for about the first year, then I guess after all the warranties run out it goes to hell. I bought it from CarMax, it was someone in Michigan's work car, and only had 15,000 miles on it. I do a lot of traveling to Ohio to visit family, so now I've put miles on it, but still under 100,000. My crappy Geo Prism lasted way longer than this PoS! I've already had problems with it starting, they say due to whatever idiot added the remote start, so that's not Ford's fault. But the rest, WTF? We've replaced the starter, quite a few batteries, the alternator (that was after it crapped out on me while driving back to Georgia after a funeral with two dogs and my college age daughter), two sets of tires and the brakes, which crapped out on me while I was headed for Ohio! This car has cost me way more than my Prism ever did! I used to love Ford Taurus cars, but now I'm going to get the hell away from them, and CarMax. I don't know what happens to it every year when I have the oil changed and emissions tested, but the last two times the "Engine" light has stayed on. It finally went out the first time it happened, but it's still on now from the second time. And Ford will do nothing for me, neither will CarMax! I have NO MONEY for this! I guess it's a good thing my son totaled his 2002 Taurus, before he had to go thru what I'm going thru. This car has been a huge expense, and it's not worth it. Goodbye Ford. When this stupid waste of metal is paid off, I will never drive one again!
