While I was driving the car the throttle cable got stuck with the cruise cable and the RPM raised to 5000 and doesn't come down. I switched the gears back to 1st and brought it to slow down. Luckily there were not much traffic otherwise this could have caused a very bad accident. I reported this issue to Ford and they initially didn't take it serious. But after I put in writing to bob allen Ford in overland park they mentioned that a service manager will call to discuss this issue further. I asked them if there are any recalls and they asked for the VIN number and they said there are none. Https://www.youtube.com/watch?V=Z1U1fgabdw4

Car hesitates during operation usually while driving in the city and has even stopped running completely but will restart by ignition. The hesitation still happens but the stopping hasn't happened recently.

The gas pedal gets stuck either when driving very slow or after I come to a complete stop. I was in the middle of traffic when this happened can be very dangerous. After I put the car in park I tried on the gas pedal again and it worked but it keeps happening daily with the gas pedal getting stuck even when I press with a lot of pressure.

Air bag light on drivers side has been activated for about a year has been checked by a ase garage. They couldn't find a fault code. Cars is surging at different speeds during normal operation. I have had to put car in neutral to kick it down to normal speed then back in to drive mode while moving in traffic.some times it slams the transmission. The cruise control has not worked for over a year. Ase tech says the connection is worn and faulty. Ase tech says he could not get any fault codes for the surging in speed after letting it run for over 45 min.and test driving the car. Ase tech believes the problem is in the PCM.

Last year in 2013-2014 when weather dropped below 30 degrees the driver side door would not lock and I had to drive to my job holding door shut. My sister has same vehicle and it happens to her 2006 Ford Taurus too. This vehicle is not safe to drive.

After taking a right turn, the vehicle began accelerating on its own. I had to fully apply the brake to maintain control. It was terrifying. My whole body shook. I thought I would hit something because I did not think that I could stop the car. Even while pushing the brake pedal all the way down and shifting into D I could not keep the car under 40 mph. The engine kept revving and the car kept gaining speed. Luckily, the only light I had was green. I pulled into a parking lot and slowed the vehicle down to a stop by applying all my force to the brake. I shifted into park hoping that would keep the vehicle from moving. It caused a loud sound that sounded like an explosion and startled everyone in the parking lot. Still not sure what to do, I turned the ignition off. A parking spot opened up so I turned on the ignition, that caused an even louder explosive sound. I was still terrified but I had to act - so I forced the brake pedal down as hard as I could and shifted to D and was able to navigate into the parking spot. I put the vehicle in park again and again it caused a loud explosive sound. By now I was a spectacle in the parking lot but I was just thankful that I was alive and that no one was hurt. I looked down at the gas pedal and noticed that it was fully depressed and loose. I pulled the pedal up but there was no tension to hold it up and it dropped back all the way down. I drove the vehicle back home, in much the same way - transmission in D, applying a lot of force to the brake and hoping that I would not have to stop suddenly or get pulled over for speeding since I could not get the vehicle slower than 40 mph even while pushing on the brake as hard as I could the whole trip. And when I parked the car at home, it made the same loud sound and I also heard ticking noises coming from under the hood. I am still shaken up by the incident.

I was driving down the road and my anti theft light came on. When this light came on it felt like the car was shifting gears. Doesn't seem to come on when the car is cold but after it has ran for about ten minutes. I went to town and back which is a ten minute drive and it came on 12 times. I brought it to a Ford dealership and they thought it was my key even though it was doing it with my husbands key also. They gave us a new key and programed it. Within about two minutes of leaving the dealer ship my anti theft light came back on. I won't drive the car because I'm afraid that it is just going to die. My husband took the car today to work and on his way home all the lights on the dash started flashing and then the car just quit. He was able to get it started again and drove it home it is now parked until we can get it into a garage and figure this out. I have looked on line and it seems to me this is a very common problem with the Taurus. I would like to know if their is a recall and if you might know what is going on. The dealer ship that I talked to today said it sounds like it might be a censer that isn't working correctly. The Ford dealer ship that I brought this to already has know idea what might be going on. Hopefully the next dealer ship does.
