I was driving on the highway in the fast lane when the car just turned off, and began to move toward the exit, and was able to stop by the side of the road. I am glad that I didn't hit anyone '

It was a difficult day, hot and left me stranded for hours. I couldn't find a ride or someone to help me. I finally had to call a toll truck.

Taurus LES 6v

  • Automatic transmission
  • 222,000 miles

I have an 07 Ford Taurus with over 220k miles on it. Was driving on the freeway, then got off and had to make a left turn. Light turned, started my turn. In the middle of it the car just died with no sign! I just noticed the gas pedal didn't work and the steering became hard to turn. Had enough momentum to finish turn and immediately pull into gas station. Note the ac and radio were still on.

I started the car back up with no problems and got to my destination safely with no problems.... This is the SECOND time this has happened. The first time was three days prior when i was on the freeway doing like 70 mph then had to slow down to almost a stop. went to get into the next lane over on my right and noticed the gas pedal didn't work. luckily again there wasn't much traffic and i could safely maneuver to the emergency lane to restart my car. Same thing ac and radio where on.

The second time it happened I went to Autozone to check my alternator and they said it was good, but my battery was a little low. I just replaced that battery not even three months ago. Before that it had a new battery in it for only a year before i had to replace it. Not sure I trust that Autozone guy, but I'm not entirely sure what the problem may be.

Taurus

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

Driving and all of a sudden the car quits, can re-start it with car in neutral. Mechanics can't figure it out.

Sometimes it happens 4-5 per day, then nothing for several days. Very frustrating.
