I purchased a 2010 GMC Acadia SLE after spending several hours going through GM's websites and other's pertaining to towing capacities on this vehicle. Every piece of info indicated that the specification for towing capacity was either 4800#s or 5200#s for this vehicle depending what site was used. NOT one site mentioned that some models weren't equipped to tow these amounts. I purchased a beautiful vehicle believing it would handle my 3500# boat and trailer with ease since it was well below the lowest listed towing rating. I was reading the OWNER'S manual AFTER the purchase and it plainly stated that this vehicle without the V90 towing package would only tow 2000#s. I went to a GMC dealership and talked to the service adviser with over 30 years experience and he stated he thought it was 3500#s without the V90 pkg. until I showed him the manual. I ask him if there was a pkg that could be added (larger Rad. Tranny cooler, tow/haul button etc.) and he assured me it couldn't be done or he wouldn't do it. I read some reviews where people have done these things but my problem is with the 100K mile warranty on the tranny and engine if there's a problem. This whole situation has probably cost me many dollars and lots of time to try and resale my very nice vehicle and find something to take care of my needs. Needless to say I will be leaving GM after having bought four GM vehicles (American made) in the last 15 years. A simple exclusion about the different capacities would have prevented all of this from happening. Sick in St. Pete and thank you.
