CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2003 GMC Astro has a reliable reputation and a very low number of complaints.

Much like it's mechanically identical counterpart, the Chevy Astro, the Safari was built on a truck powertrain. So not only can you haul lots of gear inside, but you can tow up to 5,500 pounds of gear behind you too. That's a lot of stuff.

CRANK, NO START WAS THE DAY IT WENT FROM VAN TO MONEY PIT. REPLACED FUEL PUMP, ROTORS, SPARKS AND WIRES, VAN STARTED, BUT NOW NO SPEEDOMETER, ODOMETER, FUEL; GAUGE, OIL PRESSURE GAUGE, ACTUATOR, WIPERS, LIGHTERS, RADIO, WING MIRROR CONTROLS, DOOR LOCKS, AND WIPER FLUID. CANNOT PASS INSPECTION. NOT EVEN THE ELECTRIC AUTO REPAIR SHOPS WANT TO TRY TO FIND IT. THE SEALS ON THE WINDSHIELD LEAK. I'M PRETTY SURE THAT'S WHERE IT STARTED. SPEAKING OF LEAKS, THE REAR GATE IS A JOKE. THE GATE HINGES ARE ON THE ROOF RAISED ABOVE THE ROOF. IT APPEARS TO BE AN ATTEMPT TO DEFY LAWS OF ENGINEERING AND GRAVITY. IF PAYING A MECHANIC BY THE HOUR TO TEST EVERY WIRE IN THE VAN DOESN'T QUALIFY IT AS A MONEY PIT, WHAT DOES?
