My 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali started shaking violently and the rpm gage began bouncing 1/4 to 1/2 inch in a very short amount of time. I ran a maintenance facility in Europe with 317 local national and 25 U.S. employees. Two of my brother-in-laws, and one of my nephews are mechanics. Two run their own auto repair facilities. All three reported having to replace torque converters on multiple gmc/chevrolet 1500 trucks. Many at somewhere between 40 and 60 thousand miles. If this is such a systematic problem, and from tghe number of vehicles they have had to repair it is, why hasn't a recall been issued. Second, in most cases dealerships first charge excessively for replacing the transmission fluid (approximately $900) and then end up replacing the torque converter. The owner has to pay for the transfluid replacement out of pocket because it is condsidered maintenance instead of replacing the torque converter at company expense...especially if you purchased and extended warranty through a third party. If this is recalled, owners should be reimbursed if they had to pay for it themselves and they should be required to replace the transmission fluid filter as a part of the repair,
I took my 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 SLE in to my local dealer because the engine was misfiring and there was a loud ticking noise coming from the engine. There was a sudden onset of loss of power, sluggish acceleration and shuttering. The dealership technicians did their diagnostics and found "cyl 1 miss fire removed valve cover and rocker arm found cyl 1 intake push rod bent replaced cyl 1 rocker arm push rods and all driver side lifters re[placed v loam resealed all 8 injectors cleared code miss fire is cured." This is a known GM issue as pursuant to service bulletin 15-06-01-002L. Upon further research from other complaints it was reveled to be caused by KNOWN defective or sub-par components being continually installed in GM vehicles. GM has knowledge of this issue and should take ownership of their shawty and deceptive work practices.
Service Trailer Brake System. This has happened in the past 3 Times, in which the local GMC Dealership has made me pay for New Batteries and other Fuel system issues. Dealership stated that this shows up because of a bad battery.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle jerked and stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that there were no recalls on the VIN related to the failure. The contact was referred to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.
At 48k miles with all service maintenance performed by GM dealer I experienced a ticking noise and loss of engine power. The vehicle was taken to dealership and I was told it was a lifter problem with no explanation of how or why this has happened. I was without a vehicle for 3 weeks. I picked up the vehicle and was told the vehicle was repaired only to still find the vehicle had hesitation while driving and still had a ticking noise in the engine. I returned the vehicle and am now told the engine needs to be replaced. I was also told that I am responsible for the cost of repairs. I found a class action has been filed against GM for this issue. I have been told that GM does not have a recall issued yet I was told at the dealership they have seen this happen and GM has a Service Technician report on how to fix this issue. At this time my vehicle is sitting at the dealership awaiting a response from GM to see if they will take any responsibility. My truck has been at the dealership since August 7, 2023. I have paid almost $2k and was told I would owe an additional $9300. to replace the engine. I do not have paperwork from the dealership to show service work performed. The dealership has not closed out my ticket however I have paid almost $2k for work performed. The dealership said that they matched the cost I have spent but I have no record of their costs.

Truck started to jerk if driven over 20 mph. Before this the dashboard (electric) notification showed truck heating up but the temperature gage was not reading any overheating. Prior to this the whole electrical system in the truck started to mess up. The radio changed channels without actually changing the radio channels. Unable to connect the Bluetooth because it calls my phone contacts at random. Had to get a new transmission that cost 5,000 and this was recent. The truck is still jerking but is drivable over 20 mph.
Misfire with code PO300, Ticketing from engine at higher RPM/lose power and seems to be misfiring. Check engine light would blink and then shut off. Four rockers found to be bent push rod. - Replaced right and left side lifters and guides. Replaced Vlom and 1 push rod. Dealer diagnose and repair. Lifter failure due to engine switching from V8 to V4. Very expensive and very common problem with this type of engine. Truck is young with only 74,000 miles on it. Had to replace the transmission at 70,000 also.
Over some time we had noticed a chirping / pulsating sound when starting the engine after it was fully cooled down. Cold start. This sound over the last few months has been increasingly getting worse. We asked our dealer to check things over and determine what could be the issue on a regular service visit for oil change. They could not find a reason but said a service visit with a full line mechanic would be needed to diagnose the issue. We did our own closer look and diagnosing just where the sound and smell of oil fumes or gases were coming from and found the Left side (drivers) rear / back cylinder exhaust manifold bolts to be broken off and gone. There are a total of 5 studs and the rear two had failed and gave away to now allow the exhaust manifold to leak exhaust fumes that are obvious in the cab at startup. This is a pretty major failure and safety problem we feel that GM needs to take action on and correct.
As I am driving the truck I notice that as the accelerator is pressed the truck does not respond as it should. I have taken this to a service repair shop and they have stated it is a ongoing issue with these vehicles. So I have taken it upon myself to look online and sure enough OTHERS have also states the same things.
The contact owns a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated while driving 55 MPH, the vehicle began to shift hard, started shuddering, and lost electrical power. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to push the vehicle to the side of the road with assistance. The contact was able to restart the vehicle however, the vehicle was shifting hard and was shuddering while driving. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that the main power cord had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer; Fresno Buick GMC (5515 N Blackstone Ave, Fresno, CA 93710) where it was diagnosed that the transmission torque converter and the engine mounts needed to be replaced. Additionally, the dealer diagnosed that the coolant reservoir had failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure through email. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000.

The vehicle was towed to the dealer and diagnosed with Vehicle Control Module (VCM) failure. The contact was informed that the VCM needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.

The contact also stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled with the check engine warning light illuminated on the instrument panel. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer and was informed that there was a service bulletin that was linked to the failure. Moisture could enter the vehicle through the headlights and cause the electrical and transmission failures the contact was experiencing. The contact was given an estimate for the repair. The contact then called Tameron Buick GMC (27161 US-98, Daphne, AL 36526) and it was stated that they were unaware of such a failure. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

The vehicle was taken to vanguard Buick GMC of carrollton (2700 N interstate 35E, carrollton, tx 75007) where the dealer informed the contact that the radiator needed to be replaced. The vehicle remained at the dealer for the repair. The dealer informed the manufacturer of the failure, and the manufacturer informed the dealer that the contact needed to pay to replace the radiator. The truck loose power when key is turned off and then come back on after a few minutes also stabilatrack system is shutting off truck once on the highway at 70 mph engine runs ruff and uses oil in less than 5000 miles has use at least 3 quarts the dod system make truck run extremely bad engine has miss in it also it is becoming unsafe to drive at times and brake pedal is very hard to push
