High speed collision with a cement truck destroyed most of the front portion of the vehicle. Neither passenger nor driver airbag deployed and seat belts did not lock up, injuring the driver. No warning lights indicating an airbag problem appeared prior to crash. The vehicle is now impounded at towing company yard pending insurance investigation.
The contact owns a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500 hd. The contact stated that while the vehicle was stationary, a second vehicle crashed into the rear of the vehicle causing significant damage. During the crash, the seatbelt failed to secure the driver and a neck injury was sustained. The cause of the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.
