- Summary
- This Preliminary Information communication provides information to the technician on the steps to diagnose and repair vehicles that may have a Diagnostic Trouble Code P06DD with no drivability concerns. Technician will check for other Diagnostic Trouble Codes. If P06DA, P06DB, and P06DC are not set with the P06DD technician should use the scan tool to gather information for General Motors Technical Assistance Center. Technician will need to bring the engine to 214 Fahrenheit or 100 Celsius. After the engine is up to temperature the oil pressure at idle should be recorded. Then run the engine at 1100 revolutions per minute for 45 seconds and record the oil pressure. Then run the engine at 3500 revolutions per minute for 45 seconds and record the oil pressure. Technician will now need to run the engine at 1400 revolutions per minute using Global Diagnostic System 2 command the oil control valve on and off 10 times on the 11th time record the reading on and off. Technician will now need to run the engine at 2500 revolutions per minute using Global Diagnostic System 2 command the oil control valve on and off 10 times on the 11th time record the reading on and off. Also record if any repairs were made previously for this concern. Technician will now call General Motors Technical Assistance Center with the findings of the test.
