CR-V EX 2.4L

This started a year and half ago when I noticed a hesitation and vibration while shifting from one gear to another and I looked up the problem and read on one site that changing the atm fluid would help - and it did for about 8 months, so I changed the atm again. This cost $35.00 each time with me doing the labor. The problem returned one month later but not as bad but the problem slowly was getting worst. I called Honda and they act surprised and ever hear of this problem. I looked around on line and it seems a Honda service bulletin that Honda knew nothing about that (vibration while driving under light acceleration) and the fix reads:

order number- 2235A5 description- update A/T software. replace the A/T fluid. defect code- 03214 symptom ID- 03217 template ID-15-086A failed part number- 37805-R5A-316

Honda said take the CRV in and do a diagnostic that I will have to pay for and call them back. Nothing else...

I used the following post to assist the dealer in repair of the vibration.

I took my 2013 Honda CRV to my local dealership because I had noticed a low speed shudder. There is a service bulletin 15-086 that includes a software upgrade and transmission flush. If that does not work, service bulletin 17-040 is to change the torque converter after applying sb 15-086. Unfortunately I could not replicate the issue at the dealership so they would not do anything. The shuddering only seems to be when it’s cold. They told me I had until 80,000 miles or 8 years to get this done. I may leave the car overnight next time so they can drive it cold. Hope this info helps someone else.

After completing the software upgrade and transmission flush the problem has stopped. We were instructed by the dealer that if we have any more symptoms please return for the torque converter replacement will fix it. Thank you to the person that posted this information.

Update from Sep 27, 2019: The dealership completed the software update and Transmission oil change at no charge. The problem is gone but if it comes back they stated they will change the torque converter and that will take care of the issue for good. The information in the above post was very helpful to get the work done quickly and under the extended warranty. I will update if the torque converter replacement becomes necessary.

CR-V EX L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 54,000 miles

I had a Honda Civic for 21 years and never had any major problems. Always wanted a CR V.

Finally bought a used one 03/10/18. 34,000 miles.

Already put new tires on. It needs a brake job. It's shuddering between 15 - 40 miles per hour. I'm calling the dealership I bought it from to see if they will fix it under TSB A17-040.....

I bought the Honda at a dealership out of town on Monday March 25, 2019. Returned it the next day. 60 miles away from my home. when it gets to 25 mph the shaking is horrible. While turning the shaking was minimal but still there. They are currently servicing it now but had to send it "across the street to Honda".

CR-V 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 78,000 miles

My wife and I just recently sold our 2010 Ford Escape and purchased a 2013 Honda CRV thinking this would be an even better vehicle to start a family with. Unfortunately the second day we drove the vehicle we both noticed a strong vibration coming from underneath the car at low speeds (10-30mph) while accelerating. Not sure what the issue is.

I contacted the local Honda dealership and they said there have not been any recalls or problems like that reported for my vehicles VIN#. Upon further investigation I see NUMEROUS complaints about this very same issue and these complaints are usually followed by more complaints about how the Honda is unwilling to help resolve this issue.

It seems like we may have made a big mistake purchasing this and we probably should have bought another Ford escape. Hopefully I can try again to get the dealer to fix this issue after citing the service bulletins pertaining to this issue (TSB 17-040).

CR-V LX V4

  • Automatic transmission
  • 51,000 miles

2013 Honda CRV 4 Cylinder, 52k miles: When accelerating slowly, vibration or shudder felt especially when shifting into 2/3rd gear. Honda put out a Service Bulletin #15-086 in 2016. The Honda Dealership fixing it was handed the SB and confirmed the problem and the solution as stated in the bulletin. However they were going to charge me $100 since it was beyond the 3 yr/36,000 mile warranty they said, but I figured the standard transmission warranty (5 years, 60,000) should cover it, especially since they are updating the automatic TRANSMISSION computer and replacing the automatic TRANSMISSION fluid (ATF). They didn't agree. So I called another Honda dealership who found an 'update' to the bulletin indicating Honda would cover the issue up to 8 years or 80,000 miles! After a little more research my dealership THEN found the update and covered it. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF SOME MONEY with this information. It would appear Honda extended this warranty, thus realizing it was a problem.
