Continue to have difficulty starting car on first attempt. When I turn key, dash lights come on, but engine does not turn over. I check to see if car is in park, and turn key again. Sometimes it starts with the 2nd attempt, and sometimes I need to try a third time before it starts. My mechanic can't find anything wrong with it, yet this keeps happening frequently and sporadically both in cold weather and in warm weather. It doesn't matter if the car has been driven for half an hour or 10 minutes. It's always a surprise as to whether it will start right away or not.

I bought a new CRV 2014, and it did drive fine, I never had an issue starting the car except lately. The car will not start, I bought a new battery, and this did not fix the problem. I am worried now because, we have only one car in my family that we share to go to work, and bring the children to school.

It seems like Honda knows about this problem, and they are not doing anything about it.

Honda I have a message for you: I will never ever buy a Honda again!

This is ridiculous problem to have, especially when no code comes on to diagnose the problem.

Randomly will not start, especially when I make a short 5-15 stop at a railroad crossing, store, or even a car wash. I have taken to Auto Zone, Firestone, and the Dealer. I'm told they don't find anything wrong. Finally, AAA guy told me I need a battery.... car died two days later. Firestone said I need alternator...car died 5 minutes after I left Firestone while getting gas right next door! Honda is staying hush hush about this widely reported issue!!! This is wrong! This is very very wrong!!!!!

My 2014 Honda CRV can not start up 3 times in the morning within a week, we had to jump start it, i brought it to the Adavance autoparts to check the battery, they told me the battery is very good. We know this car's battery is very weak, if you leave the lights on or something else on,or in a rainy day, it will lose battery VERY quickly, much more fast than other small cars. So we paid a lot attention when we turn off the car to make sure everything is turned off, BUT IT STILL HAPPENED 3 TIMES A WEEK! I LOOKED AT ONLINE, IT SEEMS IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM

After not being able to start the car 3 times I finally had the battery tested. They said it didn't have enough cold crank amps. I ended up purchasing a better quality battery and have had no problems since then. Seems like if you use the accessories AT ALL you will be depleting the battery. I have all the accessory lights turned off permanently and NEVER leave the car in accessory mode as I have in other cars in the past. The guys at the battery store said they rarely see a newer car come in for battery replacement after only 2 years. But yes the factory battery only lasted 2 years and was in need of replacement when I drove off the HONDA lot. Replaced it within 3 months of purchasing the car.

I Leased a new 2014 Honda CR-V from a Honda dealer in Orchard Park New York in the late Fall of 2014. The dealership is known as, "LAKS LEMONS". We live in the Buffalo New York area where Winters can get nasty. Every time the temperature hits 15 degrees F or less the car won't start, doesn't even try to start. I phoned Laks Lemons service Department where I thought I got lucky when one of their service Department employees listened to my complaint and then said, "Oh yeah those batteries don't have enough Amps to crank those cars in this type of weather." (It was cold and it was January).. I said, "Good we agree, so then you can give me a new higher Amp battery." Guy says, "We can't do that, they won't allow it". Went back and forth with the guy but got nowhere.

Within a week or so I contacted the owner of Laks Lemons and explained the problem. He told me he had over a dozen cars on his lot that wouldn't start and said he'd call me back. He didn't call me back but his lame Service manager did and he went straight for the throat like all the dirt balls do. Once again I explained the problem with the car not starting when the temperature hits 15 degrees F or lower. He asked me, "Sir, have you installed any after market equipment on the car, perhaps a remote starter or stereo or something.? I replied, "Yes I did, I had a Remote starter installed at a dealer!" He said, " Sir that is the problem. When you have a remote starter installed, other than a Official Honda remote starter, it causes problems. You see those remote starters draw too much juice from the battery so it's not our problem.". I replied, "Sir, that's very interesting because we called your dealership and asked if it was alright to have a remote starter installed and you people told us it was perfectly fine to do so!" Well after he stuttered and coughed for about a minute he said, "Sir that's because at the time it was alright to have remote starters installed but since that time we received a notice from the Honda corporation telling us that non-Honda remote starters should not be installed in the vehicles" .I phoned the national phone number for the Honda corporation and learned it's just a sounding board but no one there has any authority to do anything and they won't connect you to anyone who does have the authority to straighten out problems like I am having.

To anyone who may be considering buying or leasing a Honda don't do it. The batteries are not adequate, your car won't start in cold weather and your dealership may be as rotten as the one I used, they will not help you! A warning to you all, Honda Sucks!

Number of times this new Honda would not start so far = 18 times. We used jumper cables that were attached to a real car, a Chevy, and were able to start the inferior Honda CR-V.
