Bad coating on the paint of car. I paid $60 for spray paint and 2k clear coat, painted the top of the car since it's the part of the car that gets hit the hardest by the sun. Sanded, painted and coated. The car looks really nice and the paint is holding up. Easy cheap solution.

Honda put out a paint recall a few years ago because there was problems with the paint. I had to have the whole top and front of my car repainted because the paint had faded off of a lot of spots. Well now the doors are doing it and it looks awful but Honda is saying that recall is no longer in effect. If you acknowledged the fact that there is a problem with the paint it should never go out of effect. My car looks like it is all run down because of that. Every where else is shiny and nice and yet my doors look like they belong on another car. I have always loved my car because mechanically its been a good car but I am very dissatisfied with the paint on the car. I just don't understand how you can have a recall because of a problem with the paint and you don't repaint the whole car the first time so now when its happening in other spots you don't want to acknowledge the problem still exists. I called not only the Honda dealership where I live but also called the main office of Honda and they said there was nothing they could do. As good as my car has been it definitely makes me think more about ever owning another Honda

I noticed paint was really deteriorating on my wife's civic on top hood and trunk. I started a web search only to find that there has been a known problem for years. I found out that there was a Honda campaign to correct the issue but it expired last year. Funny how Honda can spam the heck out of my email and mailbox but when it comes to correcting poor product, they just can't seem to me the message. I contacted local dealership and told there was nothing they could do. They did take pictures and wrote up issue as I reach out to American Honda customer service.

I escalated to Honda America customer service who gave me file # 4452996 to have the issue reviewed. The customer service was horrible. I was sent a letter from Ron L. at American Honda stating that he had tried to contact me many times and if i did not get in touch with him within 3 days the matter would be considered closed. I called 4-5 times a day every day on to get voicemail. I actually had to get an operator to track him down for me. Ron L. said he would talk to his field service representative about the issue. Again another letter comes a week later stating the same thing, that if i did not get in touch with Ron L. he would close the case. I went through same process again and when I finally did contact him, he stated that I should go ahead and schedule the service with local dealership. i said, "does this mean the paint job will be covered, and he said either part or all should be covered. Before I get a chance to schedule an appointment, another CS agent, Tony called and left me a message stating that I should call him right away regarding my file number. Guess what happened next? Called Tony 3-4 times a day directly to voicemail. He finally called me and stated that his field representative would be at the local dealership to look at the pictures and make a decision. I stated that Ron L. said i should bring it in for service and paint job already, but Tony told me to wait.

Well, i receive a call from Tony yesterday telling me the claim had been denied. I asked him why but he had no information on why it was rejected and to get in contact with the local Honda dealership service manager for more information. What a racket they have over there. It's really a smoke and mirrors customer service experience eliminating a single point of accountability for me to speak with. I am really pissed and not giving up. If I had been informed at any time of the paint issue and campaign, I would have acted immediately when I noticed the paint issue. I'm not giving up on this and if you have any insight on next steps for me, I would appreciate it.

Sincerely,

Kurt

I love the Honda's but was very surprised and disappointed when this started and has only gotten worse. It has taken the value of my car down below what it should be and I believe Honda should stand behind it. I have not taken it to a dealer body shop yet but was wondering if other owners are having the same issue. The whole black area around the window on the door has a grid like look to it and is a gray color instead of black. It really looks bad and have had others comment on it how bad it looks.

paint fading

Purchased this 2008 Honda Civic DX, 2 years ago (July 2013). Now I noticed that the paint on the rear roof is fading. White blotches are forming as you can see in the picture. Not very happy with this vehicle. I originally purchased this vehicle because everyone talks about the quality of Honda Civic vehicles. I have owned other vehicles and had them for 10 -15 years and never had this problem with paint. I will never purchase a Honda vehicle again. I tend to keep my vehicles until they reach 10 -15 years old. Has anyone in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada had this covered by Honda Canada?

This car is only 6 years old. The paint looks terrible. Honda did fix the paint on the roof, but now the paint is fading everywhere else. I see other cars (same model) fading as well. Honda has to claim responsibility and repaint these cars. They obviously used cheap paint.

i had a beautiful 2008 honda civic that i bought and am very happy with for the most part. the biggest complaint is the paint. it was perfect then all of a sudden i noticed a few small patches of white on the hood. i tried cleaning it but they stayed there. then they started to slowly spread. now most of my hood and some of the roof looks like the paint is almost being eaten away. it makes it look terrible and it's embarrassing. i can't afford to pay to get a new paint job either so people get to see my crappy looking car even though i take care of it and it runs well.

I have a 2008 si coupe with night hawk peral paint .. I've noticed that the paint or clear coat is fading off making the car look horrible i mean its five year old car and the paint sucks. My roof is the one with the biggest paint problem but its not just the roof, I've noticed it in the truck and by driver side door obviously the problem is the whole paint on the car..i recently took my car a honda dealer and they said they had to inspect to make sure that was the problem. i mean if there wasn't a problem i would not be dealing with this .. after this is over I'm never buying another honda and i will probably get rid of my car on top of that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

have owned this car for two years, bought from dealership with 15000 miles and I park my car in a carport and keep it clean. The paint is faded on the roof and trunk like a 15 year old car. It really pisses me off to know I have to pay for a car that looks like crap when I thought Honda was one of the better brands to purchase. Really have no idea what to do.

From what I've read online they try to get out of paying to fix it. Really aggravated!!

paint fading

When I bought my Honda Civic, the blue color was one of the reasons I chose it. Had I known the paint job was going to fade after only 4 years, I probably would've chosen a different color or even a different Make. Is there a recall for this problem?

For having this car for 3 years, the paint job fading is highly unacceptable! I had another Civic for 5 years which was used and older and not once did I need to look into getting a paint job. Lucky I did some research and was able to get the paint job done under good will but not even a year has passed and the paint is fading again. How the hell does mileage affect the paint on the car as if I drive on the frame? The paint should be covered under a certain amount of years warranty not based on mileage.

The paint is starting to fade which tells me it's a bad clear coat on this car. I am not new to taking care of vehichles. I keep all my cars in excellent condition. We have never used a cleaner wax or any kind of polish. Just pure carnuba wax and hand wash at home with mild soap from Macguires. If they won't repair this it will be my first and last Honda Purchase. Bought it brand new for my daughter
