first jeep the guy before me spent megabucks & put in a gm switch, (two separate keys),This jeep is barely used 14 years old 54 k miles and the switch came out when key inserted. Bought new switch online ($12.50) +s+h and a hollow torx wrench for the @#$$% security bolts..I drilled and tapped a 4/40 screw into the rotating end of the new lock that engages the ignition ie the part that stays there when the barrel of the lock comes out The old ones are merely "staked" and repeated pulling key out causes the switch barrel to pull out,. My jeep will never again fail. Before installing it I swapped the lock tumblers so I still only have one key . Its nice and tight and operates without having to jiggle it.
