Was driving home for lunch and stopped at traffic light. Parking brake self-engaged and would not release. I could not move the car in either direction. Repeated attempted to get parking brake to release by pushing/pulling on switch. Finally turned off car (sitting in moving traffic) and when I restarted the brake released. Was able to get car home and parked. Called my regular mechanic and got it in yesterday, but again brake wouldn't release (it had not been set) without turning car off and on. When my repair shop took the components apart, it revealed that water had leaked down into the computer system that controls the parking brakes (had various flashing lights on dash -- odometer/stop/start signal, etc.) and damaged the circuitry. The repair shop called to explain this problem and noted that NHTSA had begun and investigation into this problem in July and had about 80 cases under investigation at that time -- apparently a body-weld issue causing leak into that component. Prior to this locking up, a service parking brake light had come on intermittently for a couple of days. My wife and I were both at risk and just fortunate this didn't lock up while on the interstate which we drive regularly. Have called local Jeep dealer where we bought it and they claim they have heard nothing about this and the earliest we can get in is 10/18. Our mechanic has temporarily disabled the parking brake (both electronically and mechanically) so that the vehicle is drivable, but said he wouldn't advise driving on it very long this way, due to the other warning components that are now compromised.

Looked into the spare tire compartment and found standing water in the compartment and in one of the side trays. No evidence of water anywhere else. Tire dealer took the compartment a part and could not find evidence of leaking anywhere else. Ran water to make sure the sunroof drains were not clogged. They were not. Checked all window sills and hatch sill, no leaks. Tech looked for any recall. There is a recall R67 for my year of Jeep and NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V826. Called 2 dealers and said there was no recall for my Jeep. The information on the recall is exactly how my leak is happening. I called the MOPAR recall line and they said the same thing as the dealers. The recall says "A short circuit in the module increases the risk of a fire." MOPAR said to go to a dealer and have them check and call them back. I have an appointment next Monday morning. Thanks.

Water is leaking into the cabin of the vehicle from an unknown location without knowledge for a while causing the carpet to become molded, which is harmful to breath. Notice a lot of other people are having same issues with not recall being done. This could also cause electrical problems which will lead to a fire

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that water was leaking into the vehicle near the accelerator and brake pedal. The contact took the vehicle to key Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram - tobey auto group (2020 N detroit St, xenia, oh 45385; (937) 347-5155) who sealed the location where the leak was coming from. The contact stated about 5 months later, at approximately 36,000 miles, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact returned the vehicle to the dealers who diagnosed that the thermostat needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired by a certified mechanic, not the dealer. The contact then stated that about 7 months later at approximately 38,000 miles, the vehicle stalled at a stop light with the check engine warning light illuminated. The instrument panel also displayed the message to service the transmission. The contact contacted the dealer and was informed that the VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V529000 (power train). The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that water had come in contact with the electrical elements with the liftgate. The vehicle was at the dealer dayton andrews Chrysler Jeep Dodge (2388 gulf to bay blvd, clearwater, fl 33765 727-799-4539) and as they were diagnosing the issue with the liftgate malfunction the vehicle caught on fire. The dealer put out the fire and there were no injuries. No police report was filed. The contact noted there was a recall for this issue back in 2015. The vehicle was not drivable and was currently at the dealer. The contact's insurance company was to inspect the vehicle at the dealer next week. The manufacturer had not been called by the contact yet. The failure mileage was 72,249.

The power liftgate frequently does not close, and sometimes it will not open. When it fails, the tailgate can come open while we are driving. We have taken it to the dealer several times. They told us to pull the fuse that operates the liftgate and that will reset it. The Jeep was under warranty when we started having this problem. It has happened many times and now the car has 60000 miles.

Traveling on highway I 94 at 70mph 5pm Jan 10th, 2018, came into contact with vehicle while merging into center lane. His car forces mine into a spin, I crashed head on into the concrete barrier/wall separating the East and West bound lanes. None of the airbags in the entire vehicle deployed. Neither the driver, passenger or side curtain airbags deployed. I survived but had two breaks in the sternal chest plate, a fractured right rib and broken left wrist requiring surgery resulting in screws and plates installed. Medical bills over $80K I was wearing my seatbelt the entire time. That day the weather was clear and approx 40-45 degrees. Through the dealer, I contacted the manufacturers customer service which directed me to their forensic team so they could obtain the black box in the vehicle and access to the car. I have serious concerns regarding not only my safety but others that own the same make and model. I am 73 years old and everyone from the ambulance driver to the state trooper that was on the scene of the accident said that I have a lawsuit here. I do not want to file suit. I don't have the time or the inclination to go that direction but I feel that the manufacturer owes me and the other customers something should they find themselves in my position. The manufacturers representative was not very helpful and I feel that I am getting the brush off and they have not returned my calls. I am hesitant to be a complainer. I hope that Jeep/Chrysler address this safety issue for me as well as others that may have the same concerns.

While flat-towing our Jeep Cherokee behind our motorhome down a highway at 60mph, we went over a minor bump in the road, and the Jeep started to violently wobble/shake (visible in rear camera of the rv) which was shaking/torquing the entire rv back and forth uncontrollably. We had to slow & come to a complete stop in the middle of the highway in order for the wobbling to stop. We immediately pulled over to shoulder of highway, to find the corner of the bumper ripped off, and the tow anchor bent sideways (from the whipping action of the Jeep). We unhooked the Jeep (no longer towable) and drove off the highway and directly to a Jeep dealer. The Jeep dealer assessed the damage from the wobble (torn front bumper, bent tow connector, and cracked front sub frame). We researched online and found this wobble to be a known issue to Jeep; certain model years (2014-2015 Jeep Cherokee) have this issue when being flat-towed; apparently sometimes when going over a bump, the the flat-towed vehicle doesn't consistently track in line with the motorhome, due to lack of power to the Jeep's electronic power steering system. Fca released a statement saying they will 'provide a complimentary jumper wire harness and switch to ensure the vehicle's eps system has power to function while it is being flat-towed. These components have been engineered and validated by fca us llc and will be made available to all customers through mopar, as early as January 29. In addition, all Cherokee owners will be contacted directly by fca us and provided with updated instructions for flat-towing. These instructions supersede all previous instructions. Also, the vehicle's online owners manual will be updated.' We never received that notification & therefore didn't have this proper part to prevent this wobble. Now Jeep is refusing to help pay for the damage incurred to our vehicle because of this issue.

The Jeep is only 2 years old and the seams for the driver's side door are not sealed all the way according to a Jeep dealer service diagnostic. This is causing water to leak on to my floor and under the carpet, soaking it with a strong potential for mold/mildew. This has to be a defect because there is no way wear and tear is the cause. I have owned the car for one year.

Dealer accepted an appointment for the recall repair but did not complete the recall repair. Dealer claimed that Jeep corporate would not allow the dealer to maintain an inventory of required parts, in this case a liftgate module. Thus I am required to return to the dealer for a second appointment to have the recall repair finished. I think this is unreasonable. Service manager explained that this is Jeep policy. He is not permitted to order liftgate modules in advance so as to have an inventory. He explained that he is required to order them for each repair, thus requiring the customer to return for a second time to have the repair finished.

The rear power lift gate will no latch to the locked position and it will not lift. 2016 I had the fca recall R67 repaired. June 1, 2017 I experienced my first issue with the power lift gate and the dealership cleaned G907 ground strap. August 23, 2017 I'm again experiencing the same issue. I believe this is a serious safety issue because the rear lift gate could be opened at anytime during vehicle movement and during a traffic collision.

My son and I were in front and side impact crash with another vehicle on 4/24/17 with significant damage but no airbags deployed in our vehicle. Attached are a few photos of both vehicles for reference. We were driving a 2015 Jeep Cherokee and were hit by a driver who hydroplaned in a 2011 Hyundai elantra. The reporting officer estimated my speed at impact was 40 mph. Airbags deployed in the other vehicle but not in ours. Considering the damage to the vehicle, force of impact and estimated travel speed at impact, I feel the Jeep airbags failed from a safety standpoint and would like to know how to go about investigating this further with Jeep. An accident report is available but did not upload due to the sensitive information contained within (VIN #'s, names, insurance policy numbers, etc); however, the report can be provided under separate cover if needed.
