The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that both key fobs would fail to start the vehicle and rear brake light failed the vehicle was taken to the dealer. The dealer replaced the brake light and noticed that the failure persisted. Several days later, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to the dealer again where it was diagnosed that the entire transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle independently accelerated without the accelerator being depressed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 13,000.

-revving up on its own when in park. Sometimes I have to wait up to a minute for it to settle down so I can put in into drive (original issue that only seems to have been exacerbated from the software update). -rpms spike when downshifting causing a slight acceleration -speeds up without my foot on the gas pedal -lurches forward 90% of the time when I take my foot off the brake, this is unsafe in traffic conditions -lurches forward when I put it into drive. -sticks in park, drive or reverse. The consumer reported multiple occurrences (25 in total) of the above conditions that occurred at various dates and mileages. 10/7/15

The vehicle hesitates when starting from a stop or accelerating from a turn or other slowing. When I add power the vehicle will lurch forward sometimes squealing the tires. This is particularly dangerous when turning left ahead of oncoming traffic. The vehicle hesitates while accelerating to pass or merge into highway traffic. The transmission software has been updated but the problem was made worse. The transmission has been replaced by Jeep/Chrysler but the problem remains. The Chrysler service representative told me that the vehicle is designed to not shift into first gear unless it comes to a complete stop. This causes the vehicle to "bog down" when coming out of a turn. This is very troubling when turning left ahead of oncoming traffic. The natural reaction is to add power. This causes the transmission to shift into first gear and lurch the vehicle forward. I've made a complaint thru the Chrysler customer care center. After another visit to the dealership I was told "the vehicle is performing as designed." If that is the case then why did they replace the transmission? this vehicle is not safe to drive.

Purchased car 5/13/15. On 5/30 noticed shimmy/vibration as I accelerated from a stopped position into a sharp right turn. Appt made for service 6/8. at check-in, customer servc knew exactly what I was talking about; confirmed in test drive. Reported star case #S1421000022, half-shafts (left & right axles) defective, need replacing. Told car was completely safe to drive in this condition. Verbal & written confirm that parts were being manufactured and were scheduled for release 9-2015. Told by service mgr, Chrysler issued an internal tsb 2-2015. Parts warping when heated and fluid loss occurs. Entire assembly needs to be replaced but parts haven't been manufactured, contracted with company that manufactures the trailhawk model (no problems reported on those parts). Assured car was safe to drive but Chrysler rep agreed to pay for rental car for long trip I had planned prior to purchase. Researched -- I have found this issue dates back to the 2014 models. Bottom line, they knew this part was defective prior to selling me the car in May. I agreed to be patient but it is now Sept and have not had my "status update" inquiry phone call returned. Vibration issue grew worse quickly, turned into a wobble. I can't drive it for extended periods on highways. As the car/parts heat up, the wobble in the front end is a constant, not just on turns. I feel as if the axles will break apart while driving. I do not have another car that I can use. There is no excuse for selling cars with a known defect and forcing a buyer to place their life in jeopardy. Other issues have cropped up. Engine races & doesn't always shift when it should; cruise control not consistent - loses speed. When returned to service, told they couldn't find a problem w/ cruise control, told transmission functioning correctly, computer is "learning" how I drive. Brakes squeak after rain, told normal by svc mgr.

I was driving to work on a Thursday morning, the same route I always take, I am very fimilair with the raod and traffic in this area because I have been driving it for the last seven years straight. Well on my way, I got into a accident, my new Jeep has been into the shop a few times for a recall, I have only had the Jeep for 7 months and have had to bring it in 2 times and now a 3rd for an airbag deployment issue. Anyway, I was driving to work and my Jeep does this thing where it feels like it shuts off when I am stopped and turns back on when I begin to move, I noticed it when I first purchased the Jeep when I brought it in to the dealer, they told me it is suppose to do that because of the four wheel drive, I said ok fine I just wanted to make sure I was safe because that is one of the reasons I purchased this car. Well on the way to work, my Jeep did just that but lately it is doing a jerking move when it starts to accelarte now, making it feel like my car is jerking and accerating on its own which resulted in my hitting the car in front of me. Now the Jeep was not going at a fast speed at all, I am very familair with the location so I pay attention to detail here. I felt my Jeep do the jerk movement and with my acceration I am certain this is what caused me to hit the car in front of me, I think there is something seriously wrong here and this needs to be addressed.

Car does not accelerate when pushing on gas, gets stuck in gear and then when it finally fins the right gear the whole vehicle bucks. Reported the problem in January, was told to wait for the recall update, which didn't happen until June. Have brought the vehicle in 2 more times for the same problem. This problem has caused me to almost be in a number or accidents when trying to merge on to highways or pass someone on the highway. In another incident my sunroof exploded from the inside out while driving on the highway and Jeep is refusing to cover it under warranty even though nothing hit the vehicle and there are other reports online of this happening.

The transmission sometimes hunts for the proper gear. It also has tried to accelerate when slowing down to a stop. I live on a mountain and when descending I manually shift the transmission to 3rd gear, but when I do, the car will speed up before slowing down. This will cause a problem on snow covered roads. After doing some research, I found that other Jeep owner's had the same issue and re-flashing the control module did not resolve the problem, so I have not taken the vehicle back to the dealer for the re-flash.

The car will accelerate and raise RPM's (sometimes increases speed by 1mph) by itself at 26mph while coasting from 30mph or greater. I'm pretty sure the car is downshifting at this point, but no car I have drove will accelerate while not pressing the gas. When the car is downshifting from any other speed, I can feel the downshift however the car does not accelerate like it does at 26mph. Only at 26mph it accelerates at the down shift. Sometimes the acceleration is greater then other times, but happens 95% of the time. I was told this is a characteristic of the car and it needs to learn how I drive. Which makes no sense because if this is a characteristic of a car, it is a very unsafe one. I feel that this is a safety issue as the car is accelerating on its own while I'm expecting it to de-accelerate. A software update was done on my car, but the issue was not fixed.

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving at a low speed, the vehicle accelerated independently. The contact applied the brake pedal and was able to stop the vehicle. The failure recurred several times intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing on multiple occasions; however, the vehicle was not able to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,900. MA 10/6 updated 11/16/2017

Going down hill, the car accelerated 8 to 12 miles an hour faster than the cruise was set for. Car keeps accelerating until you hit the brake. Does not hold the set cruise speed limit. I brought it to the dealer and after 1 1/2 hours they told me my Cherokee limited was not equipped with an adaptive cruise control with stop and go. I was told by the service writer I just have to hit the brake until the decline is over and then hit resume on the panel. I know this is incorrect so is there a fix for this? we are taking a long drive trip to Pennsylvania and I will need the cruise to enjoy my trip. The consumer stated the issue was the transmission. • 1,000 miles
Transmission failed at 1,000 miles. Dealer replaced with a redesigned version. I started to get a wobble in the front end while I was accelerating. I brought it back and they said that it was a known issue and they were redesigning the front axles but the fix wasn't out yet. A few weeks later the metal frame in my sunroof broke and the weather stripping fell out and I couldn't close the shade. They informed me that the entire sunroof assembly had to be replaced because the frame was defective. The wobble continued to get worse and the car was shifting rougher than ever. I kept telling the dealership that there was something wrong, and they said "that's how the new 9 speed trans behave". when I brought the car in for the sunroof replacement I asked them to look at the wobble and trans again, and they informed me that the front axle was indeed bad. They put in the redesigned axles, and replaced the entire sunroof. I continue to have serious transmission issues and they put in a new valve body and updated the software. It's worse than ever. I kept complaining to Jeep and all they said was "the dealership can't replicate your problem." I actually had the service manager in the car with me and he verified that the car does not drive properly- and when Jeep called me, they told me that I had to go to another dealership. This car is not safe. It hesitates when you step on the gas, then it jerks very hard into second gear, it will accelerate on it's own because it can't find a gear to downshift, and the engine will spontaneously rev on it's own if I am descending a hill and its trying to downshift. The car will leap forward and accelerate until I press the brake hard enough to slow it down and it will finally shift. The rpms will go up for several seconds after I've applied the brake. The vehicle also rolls several inches after I put it in park now.

Less than 90 days after buying a new Jeep Cherokee I watched it towed away B/C it was un-driveable. It began in the morning when the gears were not shifting appropriately. Then a few hours later, the engine would rev, and car would speed up, even though I wasn't pushing gas pedal. Then reverse failed. Then the parking brake light came on. Finally, it stopped shifting up -- I had to floor it to go 5 miles an hour. I ultimately had to coast home.....updated 11/02/15 updated 11/02/2017

2015 Jeep Cherokee sport was purchased in October of 2014. Around end May 2015 experienced problems with braking. While coming to a stop sign brake would be pressed down but vehicles RPM's would rev up and vehicle would start accelerating forward. Vehicle was brought to shop after finally being able to make an appointment on 06/16/15. Mechanic was able to experience the problem and reset module on vehicle. But check engine light came on. Dealership gave vehicle back to us and we drove it for two more days and the problem still persisted. On 06/18/2015 a deer had entered highway and while braking vehicle again accelerated and hit the deer causing front end damage. Problem could of been 100 times worse because there were also bicyclists on road as well as tractor trailer traveling behind. Vehicle was brought to dealership via tow truck. Tow truck driver even stated there is something severely wrong with the vehicle. When driver took vehicle off flat bed he put the vehicle in reverse and the vehicle went forward instead of reverse plus the emergency brake came on by itself. Chrysler was contacted and they are doing an investigation on vehicle because of the severity. My wife and I just want them to take the vehicle back because we do not feel safe in it one bit.

Vehicle has extreme hesitation when accelerating from anything than a complete stop to the point in may stand you in between lanes of oncoming traffic, when the transmission shifts it will do so violently causing tire spin and loss of traction/control. Use extreme caution when driving. Jeep has been unresponsive to even admitting this is an issue.
