Service shifter notice comes on display screen sporadically. Sometimes it is on initial start, sometimes while driving. All shifter position lights illuminate on shift indicator. Restarting the vehicle clears message.
Shifter service light came on and dealership stated the wiring harness had to be replaced. The lights on the shifter all came on when started and the shifter was engaged.
It began with the check engine light staying on even after oil changes, then when I would turn on the ignition key it would make a tap tap sound as though it didnt have any power, or while I would be at a complete stop while at a light it would sound as though the Jeep was losing power and was going to turn off, then it did turn off on me when the light turned green. I had the battery checked by a friend he said it was reading that it has power and that the alternator is good also, then finally it left me stranded at wt work, it wouldn't turn on. I have no one to help me so I took a chance and asked a stranger to please check my car, he gave me a boost, it took 2 min to get my Jeep going again..this morning at 4:30 am I wasnt able to go to work my Jeep wouldn't turn on..so my neighbor took my to auto parts to buy a new battery, my Jeep is 2 years old..I'm a single 52 year old female, I cant afford to be stranded or unable to get to work.

Just bought a used 2017 Jeep Cherokee trailhawk 36867 miles and the service shifter light has come up on the dashboard while driving down the highway and all lights next to prnd turned red. Pulled over and stopped turned off engine, put in park and the vehicle started rolling. Turned engine on/off twice then got it into park then back into drive. Made it home and vehicle still has all lights next to prnd on and service shifter message remains.

Was driving on the highway at 55 miles an hour and the car just shut off. Lost all power. Had to coast to the side of the road in heavy traffic. When I went to restart the car it said put car in park position. It was already in park. Car restart after several attempts....
At 9000 miles the "service shifter" light came on and took to dealer as a mechanic told me do not put in park. At 40,000 miles it came on again and was told the tcm had a recall, ,and if it happened again bring back about 3 weeks later it came on again and is still in shop. Now I am worried after a mechanic told me it can lock up the transmission and cause the vehicle to crash, ,, I dont feel safe driving the vehicle any lonker, , and am worried for my self and family.
At 9000 miles the service shifter message came on while driving from carthage to galveston Texas contacted a local dealer and was told dont place in park to take it to the dealership drove it back to marshall Texas to dealership and they said they were having problems with the shifter so replaced the entire shifter.. at 40,000 miles shifter light again took to dealership in carthage and said they fixed the tcm to transmission. Now at 49000 it has done it again, replacing the wiring harness from shifter to transmission. Been in shop for a week still no word.the service shifter comes on evey time it is cranked.
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle hesitated and lost power without warning. Also, the instrument panel indicators and gauges failed to operate. The dealer (kahlo Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 9900 pleasant St, noblesville, in 46060, (317) 773-6363) retained the vehicle and provided a loaner vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The VIN and failure mileage were not available.
Was getting a "service shifter" message on dash and brought to dealership whom replaced the shifter mechanism under warranty on July 11, 2018 at 37,891 miles. The dealership stated that it was our fault for leaving a cup in the cup holder which can short out the shifter mechanism (seems like a bad design if you cannot use a cup holder) now the problem has come up again on December 21, 2018 with 54,230 miles, making this component out of warranty. A cup was never left in the cup holder and was only used when someone was in the car. I really do not want to pay for a shifter every 6 months as long as I own the vehicle. This seems to be a common problem with this system and due to the nature of it being tied to the transmission of the car, it seems like a very high safety concern. The first time it started happening, it occurred from shifting from reverse to drive and the car had to be turned off and then on to operate. This issue became worse as time went on. This latest occurrence happened when putting the vehicle into drive before driving. Turned off car and turned back on and it did not display the error message. I am sure this will occur more frequently as the days pass since I am writing this at the time of failure.

The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to merrick Dodge Chrysler Jeep where it was diagnosed that the software needed to be updated. The vehicle was repaired, but the failures recurred five times. The manufacturer was notified of the failures twice and provided case numbers: [xxx] and [xxx]. the approximate failure mileage was 4,000. When I got in my car yesterday morning, my drivers seat was all the way back. I am the only one who drives it - it was odd that it was moved. Nevertheless, I needed it to go back into position so I could drive it. The controls weren't really working so it took a bit to get it to move forward. I noted it to mention to the dealer when I take it in for an oil change this weekend. I drove to work, uneventfully. As I left work, and got into my Jeep, the seat was fine. Yay! I headed home. I was pouring rain. As I took a right, heard the car go "ding" saw the battery light come on and then the Jeep turned off. I was driving and my car just turned off. This is the second time it has happened to me. The last time was January 2018 as I was entering I95. I turned left and heard the "ding" and off the Jeep went. I had to coast to the side of the road. Dangerous! I got towed to the local Jeep dealer by aaa and left the car for diagnostic testing. The results, according to the dealer, was that my oil was low. The Cherokee turns off the car to preserve the engine. Even if you are driving the car on the highway. Just. Turns. Off. First of all, that should not happen no matter what. The human in the car is what should be preserved, not the car itself. No car should ever just turn off. Second of all, there was no indication on the dash or on the uconnect app that I was low on oil. And secondly, I was only a 300 miles over the mileage on the oil sticker on my windshield. I have had a lot of cars in my life and even the really old cars would indicate if the oil was low. This is a brand new car. Why would I think the dealership would put mileage on the oil change sticker that was wrong" why would I even think that I would need to check my oil levels on a new car? and one more thing - Jeep are built tough. So why would the engine be that sensitive" so angry.
My 2017 Jeep wouldn't start on September 22,23 2018 while parked in driveway. It made a sound like the battery was dead and didn't have enough juice to start. After attempting to start multiple times and trying to turn off radio and headlight. It finally turned over, but after returning home from running errands, the following morning on the 23rd it wouldn't not start until I received a jump. There was a P code on the dashboard of car. Ive also experience issue with it not wanting to excellerate even with excessive amount of pressure to the gas peddle.
Jeep shift changer lights came on, all car lights in dash board, and car would not start. Car isn't starting with key control, and/or push start. This has occurred on several occasions. Having car towed to dealership.
Throttle body and gaskets were replaced after leaving me stranded in the street. Also, linkage was replaced due to service shifter warning. Please see the attached document for additional details.
