PE01021, vehicle was in park position with engine running when it popped out of gear and went into reverse on its own, causing vehicle to roll. Consumer jumped in, and put foot on brakes to stop vehicle. Consumer noticed vehicle was still in park positon.

Also, there was a back injury, and she was confined to bed for 6 weeks. Manufacturer examined vehicle and could not determine a reason for problem. While vehicle was in park, consumer was unloading news papers. Consumer proceeded to walk away and heard a noise. Then, turned around and vehicle was rolling backwards. Consumer states that vehicle was in park and popped out of park. Consumer took vehicle to dealer, and dealer said there was no problem with gears. Also, dealer could not duplicate problem. Consumer feel this is related to investigation in todays newspapers on Jeep Cherokee coming out of gear.
