This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
When the gear shift is placed in park, the truck continues to roll. I have had the truck into the dealer several times without fixing the problem. I contacted Chrysler in April 1999 and they sent a manufactures rep. To center Jeep to fix the problem. They assured me it was corrected. Approximately 2 months later, the truck started intermittently rolling in park. I have left several messages with my contact at Chrysler on his voice mail (john baumgartner). None of the messages were returned, and there is now another name on the voice mail. Recently, the truck rolled while at a car wash, hitting another car. This is a very severe safety problem, and I need some assistance in getting Chrysler to fix this.
Truck was parked with the engine running on a flat incline, when the transmission slipped out of gear, and the truck rolled backward and hit the neighbor's vehicle. Nobody was in the truck at the time of the incident. But when consumer went to retrieve the truck it was still in the park gear.
