The truck seems to have lost power to drive and also to provide proper to the radio which goes in and out. While driving there was no engine light that came on and the truck started hesitating to keep going. At 0 to 40mph it was acting like it wanted to shut off but as I gave it more gas it seemed to get better and the music came in clearer but then it would jerk like it was going to shut down. I have had the starter, alternator, engine and spark plugs changed and checked but it still is doing the same thing. This is unsafe with my kids in the car and no warning light to say that anything is wrong. This needs to be addressed I've seen too many trucks with similar issues like mines.

I am concerned that my vehicle is not going to be recalled. I have read that if I am struck from behind my car could catch fire. I am experiencing some other issues with the car, one of which is it dying everytime I push the accelerator. So I am terrified that if I pull out into traffic and it dies, like it does regularly, I will be rear-ended and my car will burst into flames and my kids, including an infant, in the back seat will die in the fire. Something needs to be done about this before another person, child or adult, loses their life!

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee has in past revved up and accelerated suddenly. But I was able to stop it with brakes. Today, 8/4, I was parallel parking and went into reverse. When I went into drive, the Jeep revved up and accelerated on its own. I applied brakes but car kept accelerating and tapped car in front of me. Luckily no one was hurt, but easily could have been.

Unexpected acceleration of 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo from a stop position with horse trailer attached almost cost serious injury to life and property damage. Vehicle was in stopped position. Foot was on brake pedal. Car revved up on it's own and pushed vehicle and horse trailer 5-6 foot in reverse -- although brake pedal was being depressed (I was almost standing on it). I read over the internet that this is a somehow common occurrence and wanted to report it as well.

Grand Cherokee 4WD 8-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 30,000 miles
The contact owns a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerates by itself and makes a strange noise in the transmission box. The vehicle has been in and out of the shop since the date of purchase, with repair costs exceeding $4,000. The dealer stated that even though there are recalls, her VIN is not included. The dealer changed her fuel injector system, which caused her to be involved in a crash and also receive speeding tickets. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle shut off on the freeway and almost caused another vehicle to run over her. The contact stated that it takes approximately fifteen minutes to start the vehicle. She took it back to the dealer after the most recent failure and they stated that she would need another fuel pump. She called daimler Chrysler who stated that she needed to take her vehicle back to the dealer. Chrysler stated that they would replace the parts of her vehicle at no cost. When she took her vehicle back to the dealer, they stated that the representative from Chrysler gave her the wrong information and that her vehicle was out of warranty. The contact stated that her vehicle has not been driven since due to the previous crash and failures. The dealer and the contact have all of the repair documentation. A police report was filed for the speeding tickets. The current mileage is 99,000 and failure mileage was 30,000.

While my son was pulling into a parking spot the accelerator on our 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee ltd suddenly accelerated. You can see the skid marks from him applying the brakes but it went full throttle and took it into a concrete wall. The Jeep has been totaled. I have been finding a lot on the internet now that shows this has been happening to the Jeep for some time. I have filed a complaint with Chrysler - have been transferred to several different departments, and am still waiting to see if they will accept any responsibility.

My 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee also has the acceleration problem (without notice) when shifting from or to park. I've had a dozen instances including some while stopped behind other vehicles at a red light and when I take my foot off the brake the car wants to surge forward. I've taken to staying back a bit further in those instances. I instruct my wife and son to do the same when driving my vehicle.

I a saw a story on the news regarding sudden "unexplained acceleration" in 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee which has been resulting in accidents, and one fatality. Link to story: www.wcpo.com/wcpo/localshows/dontwasteyourmoney/14765976.html I too own a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee and experienced the unexplained sudden acceleration issues. I have had too many close calls to mention, especially at stop lights, stop signs and when pulling into parking spaces. Situations that require the car to progress slowly, such as the situations above or in traffic. I thought it was just mine, as my Jeep has been nothing less than high maintenance, but after seeing this story, it appears that I am not the only one experiencing this issue. I saw on the news/read in the article that the ky attorney general was participating in the investigation. I have also contacted the oh attorney general and filed a formal complaint, to bring this to his attention and in hopes that he too will join in this effort.

2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 - engine stalls out intermittently while driving. This happens more frequently in colder weather (50 - 70 degrees F), but also happens after the engine is hot. Stalls when foot is off the gas and slowing down, braking, etc. It usually starts right back up. This is dangerous because the vehicle is extremely difficult to steer without power. The vehicle has been one chyysler dealer 3 times concerning this issue, another Chrysler dealer one time, and a private certified mechanic. None have been able to fix the problem. The engine light does not turn on when it stalls. No diagnostic codes are stored in the Jeep's computer other than the number of times it was restarted. Since the problem is intermittent, the mechanics are unable to correctly diagnose the problem and determine if it has been repaired, but they remain capable of charging lots of money for replacing plenum seals, checking the idle, flushing the transmission, cleaning fuel filters, testing time, replacing the PCV valve, and more. The car stalls an average of once every 10 miles, less if I drive with two feet, keeping pressure on the throttle.

Grand Cherokee 4WD 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission

I was pulling into a parking place at work. I had just turned left into the parking lot and had applied the brake to slow. I moved about five parking spots up and applying my brake again turned into the parking. During this time I had not taken my foot off of the brake pedal, only decreased the pressure. When I applied pressure to come to a full stop the car suddenly sounded like a jet engine and took off, going through a brick wall, traveling across about twelve to twenty feet of yard and plowed into the side of a house. I know that my foot was firmly on the brake and not near the accelerator pedal. Needless to say I am extremely afraid to drive this car. I had purchased this 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee from a Chrysler dealer on April 16, 2003 and for the first six months had no problems with the vehicle.
