While driving on a 55 mph 4 lane roadway I experienced a loud "pop" sound followed by rapid rhythmic banging at the passenger rear area of the vehicle. Thinking a tire must have failed I got as far to the right of the roadway and stopped. When the tire was changed it was apparent that the tread delaminated involving about one half of the length of the tread. The tire was not punctured and remained inflated. I was in danger of injury due to the proximity to high speed traffic passing by. I contacted Goodyear, the manufacturer of the tire, and they retrieved the tire for an internal inspection. They denied my claim citing the delamination was caused by "impact causing overdeflection of the tire and a fracture of the steel belt package". There was no impact with any object or defect in the road surface. There is no way the the rear tire could have impacted anything without the front passenger side tire also being involved. The tire was rendered totally unusable as a result. There was no warning nor was there any impact. The tire size is 265/50R20. There is extensive damage to the passenger rear area of my vehicle and the rear passenger door.

  • 20,000 miles
Purchased this car, a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee, in Sept 2012 brand new from the dealer. It came equipped with Michelin latitude tour tires (P265/60/R18). I have only driven this car around town and have never done any off road driving. At about 20,000 miles, I noticed that the left front tire was nearly bald. The other tires were worn as well but not as bad as the left front tire. I brought this to the attention of the dealership where I purchased the car. After testing, they determined that the alignment was perfect and the air pressure in the tires was perfect. They had no explanation as to why the left front tire is nearly bald. They told me to contact Michelin tires. I contacted Michelin and they instructed me to take the car to an official Michelin tire distributor and have the tires inspected. The inspector told me the tires are worn all around but he had no explanation as to why the left front tire is nearly bald. He said the Michelin tires have a high percentage of silicon and they are subject to road heat. He went on to say that even if he filled out the substantial amount of paperwork that Michelin requires, it was not likely I would get much if any money from Michelin. I then checked the NHTSA website and found that "some" of the Michelin latitude tour tires (P265/60/R18) had been recalled. I am registering this complaint because I believe all of these tires are defective and the NHTSA needs to do a comprehensive investigation before people get in accidents.

Ran over small piece of metal in the sidewall of my Michelin latitude touring P265/60 R18 tire and punctured large hole in the tire. Had to order another one dealer allen samuels East Texas Dodge in tyler tx said there was no warranty cost me about $300 to replace the tire. Now I have been noticing that the tire I replaced as well as my other tires are slick and almost thread bare I only have 18,000 miles on these tires. I know there has been a recall on these what do I need to do to get them replaced by the tire manufacturer? I am worried about my safety as well as my passengers in the vehicle.
