When you press start, engine and stops in 2 seconds with a red dot indication. It will start after multiple attempts. Whenever this happens red dot indication goes on, which suggests it is security issue with the Sentry Key anti-theft engine immobilizer. This happened multiple times until the steering got locked. I had to get it towed to dealer. Dealer suggested to change the key fob and the associated module. The dealer confessed that this issue is coming in many Grand Cherokees. Worst thing is the dealer doesn't have spare and surprisingly not available in whole GCC. Next weird thing get to hear is, spares are not available in US as well. Now I have to wait for 45 - 60 days to get my car back in running condition. Pathetic situation for a customer who trusted in Jeep.

The issues:

- I tried to start my Jeep after overnight on the driveway but it quietly crank and didn't / overall panel start dimming and turned off completely - all electronics won't work. I wasn't able to open a trunk even.

- Road assistance came and saw battery completely dead. They jump started and I drove for ~10-30 miles without turning off but the next day it all repeated.

- The next day I drove to the dealer without further ado, and they recommended to change the battery as mine was 6 yo already.

- This worked fine for another day but today won't start again. I'm going back to the dealer and will update.

Update from Jul 30, 2019: main hypothesis now: intermittent draw was caused by a relay inside the PDC that is keeping the A/C clutch on

This is an intermittent problem that keeps getting worse. I have had my car towed twice to the dealer and it does not start and they put it on their computer and it does not start but gives them no error code. They say there is nothing wrong so they can't fix it even though it won't start for them either. After it sits a few days it magically starts and they say I have to take it home. I can't drive the damn think if I can't trust it to start !!

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Purchased in November 2015. In about May of this year I had an issue where the car would start and drive fine then if it was stopped and tried to restart within 10-15 minutes it would not start. The starter was fine, battery was fully charged but acted as though it was completely dead. Radio would come on gauges would light up etc. but the car would not start. Is in for it's third service. Initially they said it was not a problem. Then it began to get worse. latest, they replaced the key detection sensor and provide two new key fobs. Car ran without a problem for about a week then the same issue reoccurred. If I wait 30-45 minutes, it will start right up no problem but if you try to start it within 10-15 minutes, it will not start. I believe it is the TIPM but they will not admit it or replace it. I am not at 35,650 miles and am concerned this will not get fixed until the warranty runs out.

My car has a push-button start. I stepped on the brake pedal to start it, it felt like a rock, no play in it whatsoever. Hit the starter, DEAD. Tried again, nothing, not a peep from the engine. Third time, nothing. On the fourth try, the brake pedal gave a little and the engine caught, ran perfectly. When I called the dealer they asked if I jump started it-yeah, I'm female but I know what a dead battery sounds like, and they don't miraculously come back to life. It's at the dealer now. This is the second time with this problem. First time they traced it back to the brake booster that had supposedly been replaced in the recall p14/NHSTSA-14V-154.

Update from Jun 18, 2016: I got the vehicle back from the dealer, they had to keep it overnight, seems like my car is always there overnight. This time they told me they replaced the brake booster. Silly me thought they did that the first time. No, first time they checked it for leaks, second time (when I had trouble starting it), they replaced the shield, third time, they replaced the booster, which was leaking. Fast forward about a month. I just returned from an eight hour round trip, literally over a mountain, get into my car the next morning, step on the brake pedal, hard as a rock. Hit the starter, NOTHING. After about 10 tries, and just when I was thinking I was going to need to be towed out of my garage, the piece of crap finally started. I called the dealer, somehow managed to keep my cool, and told them that I was beyond upset with this car. I now have a loaner Dodge Dart, half the sticker price, half the horsepower, half the size, half the features of my Jeep, but, you know, it STARTS (well, so far at least). This started on Friday, they couldn't look at my car that day. They called me today (Saturday), told me that a new recall just came out today (if they're not BS'ing me I believe that brings the grand total to 7) something about a radio frequency converter or something. They want to keep it until Monday to be sure. I think I'll ask them to check the flux capacitor while they're at it. And the manager keeps trying to tell me what wonderful cars they are. Seriously, with seven recalls, and waiting a year for parts??????

Update from Jun 28, 2016: After the car was at the dealer most of last week, I picked it back up. They keep telling me they can't fix if if the "event" can't be recreated. Yesterday morning (6/27/16), I went out to the garage, stepped on a rock hard brake pedal, took out my i-phone and started shooting video. Car started on the 6th try. Called the dealer on my way down there, told them I was on my way, the car wouldn't start, and I NEEDED a vehicle. They called later to ask if a tech could take the vehicle home, I told them no, the problem only seems to happen first thing in the morning, let it sit overnight and try it. Again, I was given a loaner Dodge Dart.

Side note: Last time they did do an update for the electronic shifter issue. Now if the car is in a gear other than park,moving under a certain speed, and the driver's door is open, seatbelt not latched, brakes not applied, the car will put itself in park. HOWEVER, they still recommend using the parking brake.

Update from Jun 30, 2016: As of today, 6/30/16, they can't replicate the problem and therefore can't fix it. They want the loaner back. I want a reliable car. I was told to call them immediately if the problem happens again. Hopefully it will be in my garage, not somewhere unsafe at 3am.

Update from Nov 21, 2016: The last time the car was at the dealer, they replaced the brake switch. It was fine for a couple of months, a few days ago I got in to find a rock hard brake pedal, car wouldn't start with the push-button or the remote. I finally MASHED the brake pedal to the floor with all my strength, this got it to budge a little and the car started. I'm so done with this car I didn't even call the dealer. Lease is up next month. I feel bad for the next person to get this lemon

We have had repeated problem with the Jeep not wanting to start at first. You have to keep pushing the ignition button 4 or 5 times then it will start. When we took it to Jeep we were told there's no reports of any problems said they couldn't do anything until it did it for them.
