Grand Cherokee Summit 5.7L V8

2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit-fully loaded, great riding vehicle... when working!!! Traded my disastrous 2011 with hope for a better built vehicle. I am not sure if I found it. Just recently three members of my family tried to move it. Every time they shifted transmission to "D" it would automatically move to "P" by itself!

Two hours later, towing man was able to DRIVE it on the flat bad. Very worrisome since we occasionally tow one horse trailer with this vehicle. Being unable to drive back or get stranded somewhere on the highway would be a great danger to the animal and other motorists! We have set up a diagnostic appointment with Umansky Jeep in Charlottesville. Not holding my breath since they weren't very helpful in the past.

This transmission is not very user friendly. I have to double check what gear am I on! Chrysler/Jeep must know it by now, yet no recall/repair solution has been issued. Shame!

On June 12, 2018 I was driving my 2015 JEEP Grand Cherokee on a highway with a speed limit of 30 MPH my JEEP went from DRIVE to NEUTRAL I saw it on the dashboard and then on the gear shift. The car seemed to shut down and hesitate. By that time there was a car about two inches from my rear end. I pushed the gear shift back into DRIVE and the JEEP accelerated. That car behind me did not hit me. But two other cars rear ended the car behind me. I called 911. Police and Fire came to help. No one seemed hurt at that time. All 3 cars in CRASH had to be towed away. Police said if I was not hit I could leave. But my car caused the 3 car crash, but NO FAULT of driver error. The car MALFUNCTIONED. One hour later, I was in an open parking lot and it did it again. I drove the car home, parked it in my driveway and WILL NEVER DRIVE the car again!

If I was on our local Washington, DC beltway, I would not be writing this complaint...I would be DEAD!

I have instructed my family if anyone drives that JEEP and is killed, I want this complaint to be witness to that FACT the car killed that person.

My husband and son took the JEEP to a local JEEP dealer in our area. The Service Manager did a Free 23 Point inspection and Auto Trans Repair (misc parts $18.49 and Labor cost $147.95 and tax $24.48 for a total of $173.54) which we PAID for and was told they drive the vehicle for 20 miles and nothing happened. They could NOT find any defect in the car. This car has a ZF-8 Speed Transmission. It does NOT have the problem ZF-9 Speed Transmission. BUT IT HAS A REAL PROBLEM!

The JEEP will continue to sit in my driveway and I will NEVER DRIVE IT AGAIN. The shame of all of this I really liked the car. After owning 2 Brand NEW FORD Explorers I switches manufactures to a used 2015 JEEP Grand Cherokee and it could have taken my life which is worth MORE than $173.54.

Let this be on record to CHRYSLER, Dodge and JEEP if anyone gets killed while driving this car and it malfunctions again, you are responsible for it.

I hope someone at the Manufacturer reads this complaint and solves the problem.

Shifted vehicle into Park, reached over to kiss my wife....boom, vehicle hit a brick column, it went back into Drive. Contacted customer service, had me meet an investigator at dealership who could not replicate, therefore, they suggested I file a claim with my insurance. 30 days after my incident, I get in the mail, "we know the vehicle has an issue with shifting and we will recall soon, blablabla..".they're too busy with other recall issues.

Go figure, but they could not replicate. Stay away from for now.

Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4 3.6L, V6

I purchased a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee last June. It immediately started to lock in first gear. Once the transmission has shifted into first gear there is not a way to get it out of this gear unless you shift a paddle lovcated on the steering column. This often has the adverse effect of shifting into a higher gear which because of the vehicles weight causes the car to stall if it is on a hill.

The locking for first gear also causes the rpm's to increase where you are prematurely causing engine wear and using unecessary use of gas. The Jeep has almost been in several traffic accidents because of this gear shift problem. I feel the vewchicle is unsafe and do not like to operate it.

Additionally, the GPS continues to fail after it has been replaced twice by the deale.

Update from Mar 19, 2016: Transmission sticks in First Gear. Where driving the transmission will suddenly go into Sport Utility Mode and lock into first gear when car is driving. This causes all four wheels to lock up as if you are applying the brakes. The car then goes totally out of control. I have lost control of my Jeep Grand Cherokee on the Interstate so many times I am afraid to drive the car. It is if someone hit the brake pedal at sixty miles an hour. This is the most dangerous vehicle I have every owned. It cost over fourty six thousand dollars and then the dealer I purchased from in Winston Salem lied to me over and over about it. I have called the Jeep Customer Service Compliant Line for one year. My Jeeps warranty is now getting ready to expire. I recommend that no customer every purchase a Jeep are Chrysler product under any conditions. Chrysler is aware of the faulty transmission and absolutely refuses to fix it are even to stop the assembly of the new vehicles coming of the assembly line. In addition, some of the Jeep Grand Cherokees are catching on fire apparently because the transmission is faulty and overheating burning the vehicle completely down. I know on one brand new Jeep Cherokee that the accelerator stuck at full throttle causing the Jeep and occupants to ram into another car injuring all passengers badly. Jeep and Chysler is attempting to hide this information from the public. I am informing the public that the Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 is a dangerous vehicle. The government needs to make Chysler to stop manufacturing this vehicle. I will never purchase a Chysler product again in my life.

About a week ago we noticed the car when into neutral between 1 & 2 gear we contacted the dealer who couldn't find any alarm codes, so updated the software in the gearbox. Next morning same problem occurred, took car back to dealer for software to be re done! Now I am getting rough idle sensation or bumping feeling thru car it doesn't feel right. I will run car for another couple of days in case it has something to do itch the gearbox CPU learning process.

Update from Aug 20, 2015: Reinstalled software and did gearbox learn procedure, now gearbox is changing smooth again, I has been about two weeks since last upgrade and still going strong
