My brake light light up, check engine light comes on and my Stability Control system does not work. My car won't electric start as the check engine light is illuminated. I took the vehicle to the dealership and they could not help me as there is no fix in place.
A vehicle that is able to start and shift out of park without depressing the brake pedal can result in unintended vehicle movement which can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning and/or injury to others outside the vehicle. There has been a recall out for over an year yet no available solution.
I purchased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee on [XXX] unaware that the vehicle was subject to a federal safety recall and stop-sale order. The recall (NHTSA 24V-838 / Manufacturer 94B) was issued on November 7, 2024, for a defect in the ABS control module that may disable the Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Stability Control (ESC), and cause unintended vehicle movement even while stationary. A stop-sale order (VIR 2024-11-14) was issued by Stellantis on November 14, 2024, prohibiting the sale or delivery of affected vehicles until repaired. Despite this, the dealership sold me the vehicle while the recall was still open and unrepaired. In the months following my purchase, I began experiencing issues with the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC). On June 15, 2025, I paid $770 out-of-pocket for ETC sensor repairs after a loss of throttle response. The vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer, but this defect may be linked to the broader electronic issues cited in the recall. No warning lights appeared in advance. I have been driving this vehicle daily without knowing it could malfunction in a way that puts myself and others at risk. I only learned of the recall on June 22, 2025, when I searched the VIN through NHTSA-??s database. This has caused emotional distress, financial harm, and a complete loss of trust in the vehicle-??s safety. I am seeking appropriate accountability for the illegal sale of this recalled vehicle and want to ensure others are not put in similar danger. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Recall number 24V-838. My vehicle currently has a temporary tag/registration as it has not passed state-required safety inspection, directly related to the reason for the recall, a faulty HCU/ABS module. With this temporary tag expiring soon and no remedy for the recall, I will not be able to use my vehicle. I will not be able to get to work and home, I am not able to go grocery shopping, and the many other errands I take care of each week. In the meantime, my vehicle remains parked and unused. A vehicle that it is not used does fall apart. If there is no projection for finding a remedy, for how long is my vehicle going to be parked and not used? The lack of a remedy for this recall has become very real in my world. This is extremely frustrating because I love my Jeep, I truly do. Please advise when do you expect to have a remedy for this recall.

All-wheel drive is no longer working due to messages stating "service anti-lock brake system, " "service air suspension immediately, " and check engine light. All lights and cautionary messages came on at the exact same moment while coming out of park over a year ago. I have had the vehicle repaired twice, and the dealership says, "It is a wiring issue, " but within a month after being repaired each time, the messages and issues begin happening again.
While driving, all the light on the dashboard come on. When this happens the speedometer is not working the windshield wipers come on. The emergency brake light is on, the car shifts out of gear and the turning signals don't work and the hazard lights won't work. This is all happening at the same time. I'm unable to inform people on the road that I'm in distress because my hazard light won't work I don't know how fast or slow I'm going. I can't inform the people on the road that I want to change lanes. Then after a while all the lights on the dashboard would go out and the check engine light would remain on for maybe two days and than go out. This problem has been going on since January I have paid thousands of dollars attempting to get this problem fixed. My car has been back and forth to the same Chrysler central Ave dealership where I purchased my 2018 jeep grand Cherokee to which I'm still paying for.
All three brake lights stayed illuminated during car operation regardless of brake pedal pressed. I was able to shift and start my car without pressing the brake putting my family and other pedestrians at risk of being run over if the car shifted out of park unexpectedly. Also no warning lights were on at all, so I drove on the road with my brake lights illuminated increasing risk for injury or death in a crash. It turns out the part is a hydraulic control unit. It was reading 120psi when the pedal wasn-??t even pressed. This was replaced by an independent shop and fixed the issue. I found out that there was a recall done on 2011-2022 Jeep Grand Cherokees. This recall was -??Equipment Safety Recall 21A NHTSA 23E-019-??. This recall calls out this exact problem for our exact model and the exact part replaced. My vehicle did not qualify for this recall for some reason which does not make sense because of the following information. The Julian date range for the failed part is 8166-9106. The part pulled out of my vehicle has a Julian date of 8228. I am more than willing to provide photos and any documentation showing this repairs high cost and that it was done. There needs to be another recall with these cars to include mine and many others as this issue could cause death of unsuspecting people around the vehicle. It-??s ridiculous that my vehicle did not qualify for this recall when I have an obviously failed part that FCA knows about but refuses to fix or reimburse me for. Please investigate this and enact a recall to fix a problem that was bad enough to be recalled once for another batch of cars. There are other cars out there that could cause death or serious injury.
The worse thing that has happened is I started my car with my grandbaby in her carseat, I hopped out to lock my house door and the car went into reverse and ran into barbwire fence, this has happened twice. A total of 3 times my car has slammed on the bracks while backing out of the drive way barley moving it almost gave me whiplash. My radio jumps around channels, I have reported in the past but has gotten worse and started turning on the heater on high and I cant stop it.
2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Consumer writes in regard to illuminated check engine and brake system lights. The dealership agreed to care for the cost of the rental car by removing the amount from the cost of service charges which totaled $2,670.69 approved by the manager. Unforturnately, the claim was denied because the vehicle was outside of its warranty and does not currently have any active service contracts.
Car was parked on a slight hill and was turned off, car then rolled about 2 feet down the driveway. Car did stop on it own luckily. Incident was captured on home surveillance camera. Vehicle has not been checked by a mechanic.
Driving about 45mph down the road and car in front of me suddenly stops. I immediately hit the brakes and had plenty of space to stop but truck wouldn't stop and brake pedal went all the way down to floor and I rear ended the car in front of me. It wasn't snowing, raining nor was the road wet but it was a cold day. Not sure why it didn't stop looking back on it felt like if there was air bubbles in the brake line which caused a delay in stopping, also remember feeling antilock brakes engaging and automatic emergency stop not braking for me when I was close to other vehicle.
While using the acc function and setting forward distance at any length the problem is that when the car in front of you slows, stops, ,or turns my vehicle will brake on its own. However, while braking during the mentioned operation the big problem is that the brake lights do not illuminate. I have had several close calls with someone nearly running into the back of my vehicle during the use of the adaptive cruise control (acc). This can be extremely dangerous if you are now fully aware of this problem. This should have been addressed during the acc hazardous examination phase. A very simple fix would be to install an I/P switch in the brake line at the master cylinder so that the pressure from the acc applying the brakes sends the pneumatic signal to an electrical signal that lights up the brake lights. This problem should absolutely have been caught and addressed during the design phase. I found out when I asked a service manager about it and he said the lights do not come on. He also said they know about it.
The owner noticed the rotors looked worn or "gouged" on the rear brakes while washing it. He took it in to replace brake pads. Mechanic discovered that the entire rear braking system was not working. The calipers were "frozen", the pads were completely gone, and rotors had extensive wear and locked into place as well. The front brake rotors showed more wear due to working overtime with lack of rear brakes. Only sign of this prior was it was not slowing down when placed on cruise control, otherwise, front brakes were braking and no sounds were being emitted. Had to replace brake pads, rotors, and brake calipers. Unsure of how long it was in this condition. Only has 28,120 miles on it.
On January 23, 2018, leased a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicle from criswell located at 84 bureau drive, gaithersburg, md 20871. Since that time, I have experienced an extraordinary number of technical and mechanical issues with the vehicle including a major safety concern: 'brakes locking when attempting to start vehicle (I was advised on 7/3/19 by a service advisor at criswell, that this could potentially happen while driving) 'vehicle not starting 'vehicle shutting down at red light 'a faulty drive shaft that was replaced 'rear camera freezing 'dashboard display going blank while driving I fear for my safety and that of my family and request that action be taken on my behalf. Sadly, every time I take my vehicle to the dealership, they cannot duplicate the issues and are, therefore, unable to be of any assistance at all while I continue to experience issues on a weekly basis. Jeep customer care (800-992-1997) assigned a case number and has complete documentation to support my complaint.
Parking my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo in a parking lot. My foot was on the break and I was getting ready to shift Jeep into park when the Jeep suddenly accelerated forward hitting a building. Took Jeep to dealership and they have been trying recreate this. I have opened a ticket Chrysler/Fiat and waiting for them to contact me. I am afraid to drive the Jeep now.
In September of 2018 in an elevated grocery store parking lot, immediately at the moment of a low speed front collision that bent part of the front bumper, the engine RPM spiked extremely high. I then carefully put my foot square on the break and applied pressure before putting the vehicle in reverse so I could park in order to check the damage. As my foot was firm on the brake, while shifting into reverse the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed as the engine RPM continued to violently accelerate and spike. The brake was rock solid and did not activate all, no matter how much pressure I put on it as the Jeep accelerated through the parking lot in reverse, getting up to about 40 to 50 mph before striking 4 other vehicles. At least 2 of the other vehicles were totaled. Only after the Jeep came to a complete stop into one of the parked cars, was I able to turn the engine off and get out to make sure no people were injured. Several pedestrians were walking to their cars at the moment of the incident. No one was hurt but several people could have been killed or seriously injured as a result of the engine throttle/RPM spiking out of control. The experience was completely horrifying. The on duty police officer who I spoke with, who was also present at the time of the incident, did not write a ticket. After interviewing me he determined that I was of sound mind and body and not under the influence of any type of substance. After speaking with several technicians and sales associates at the Jeep dealer, I' was advised to contact Jeep corporate to speak with someone who had the authority to help me resolve this matter. Moving forward my best advise to anyone else would be to check this (NHTSA) website for any manufacturer malfunctions and/or recalls.
As im driving, the car complete dies on me, no power, no brakes, no steering, nothing is working, this is the 3rd time this is happening, im not safe in this car, I drive my kids,
