Did not know a simple ticking sound from the engine would be such a big deal. Was told engine had to be disassembled to replace my camshaft and rocker arms in the engine. I took my car to the independent mechanic to get a 100,000 mile service completed. I told him about the ticking thinking it was no big deal and they identified bad rocker arms and camshaft. They said this is very common in these 3.6 V6s used among many Chrysler products. They quoted me thousands of dollars to get it fixed. I have an extended warranty for these big things through a 3rd party company but independent shops won’t work with the warranty. So I had to take it 45 minutes to the dealership where I purchased the vehicle. The dealership and independent mechanic both advised me not to drive my car and have it towed due to me potentially causing catastrophic engine failure. Crazy to believe this is happening right under 100,000 miles.
