In September of 2016 Jeep discovered a serious, possibly fatal risk potential associated with a sensor involved in restraining seat belts and deploying air bags "under certain impact conditions". as an owner, I was not apprised of this risk until June 20, 2017. Then, when I inquired about the availability of a repair to correct this lemon I was "informed", "advised" there was no repair available and such repair(s) may not be available for six months. I was given a vague estimate, and vague "assurance" I would be apprised of repair availability when ready. I asked, "should I bee driving this flaw"" they had no specific guidance. Seriously? accordinfly, I am invoking "lemon law" and demanding full liquidation of my existing auto loan at Jeep's expense. If they do not oblige, I shall seek civil suit damages by jury trial for added emotional pain and suffering coupled with their failure to fully-disclose potential fatal flaw for over six months to Jeep owners. I expect the NHTSA to manage this claim. Period. What a mess. What country is this? is anyone watching and protecting consumers" I expect the NHTSA to force Jeep to immediately undertake a full buyback program no later than July 1, 2017. Period.

This recall has been recognized as increasing risk of injury in the event of certain crashes, however, there is still not a remedy from the dealer. The original recall date is September 2016, so it has been nearly a year. I feel that it would be imperative that a remedy is provided in a timely fashion to prevent the need to provide a recount of an injury due to a crash. Nearly a year seems extensive for providing a suitable resolution to an issue.

Important safety recall S61/NHTSA 16V-668 notice was received from fca on 11/15/2016. As of 6/16/2017, the recall status is: Incomplete but repair parts are not available. It does not seem reasonable that an important safety defect has gone so long without a fix by the company. The description of the risk is: Safety defect/non compliance description and safety risk: The vehicles may experience loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability in certain crash events due to a shorting condition resulting in a negative voltage transient that travels to the occupant restraint controller via the front impact sensor wires. The potential loss of air bag and seat belt pretensioner deployment capability in such crash events may increase the risk of injury in a crash. Repair description: The occupant restraint controller must be replaced. Fca needs to either provide fixes very soon, or replace the vehicles.

I received a recall notice and went to the website to sign up for notification when parts are available. It's been 8 months or so since the notice and still no repair. How long will this be allowed to go on? I wanted to give this car to my 16-year-old son but can't due to this issue.

Someone in a 3/4 ton work van ran through a stop light and plowed in to the right passenger front / side of my Jeep while I was making a left hand turn we were on the city streets.. the impact was so great that while making the left turn and being hit so hard my wife and I went through a pizza shop head on. None of the 8 air bags in my Jeep went off. There is a recall for the Jeep air bags for which I did get a hold of the dealership and they told me that the recall is still open and no they do not have a fix at this time. Now reading the Jeep factory user guide the air bags should have gone off. The Jeep does have seat-mounted side air bags and from reading the factory user guide it states that this vehicle may be equipped with supplemental seat-mounted side air bags to provide enhanced protection to help protect an occupant during a side impact. If the air bags would have gone off my wife wouldn't have got so hurt. She now has a right cervical strain, lumbar contusion, and a right clavicle fracture. Also with the head on collision into the building the front air bags should have gone off they did not.

S61 recall in effect since September 2016 (9 months). No remedy has been issued at this point. I have been in a rental for 15 weeks and dealing with out of pocket costs while I wait on reimbursement. This has become a huge hassle with no end in sight. I refuse to drive this recalled vehicle without any guarantee that I have working safety devices protecting my family and I. Jeep needs to step up and take these vehicles back. I am unable to trade it in on anything other than a Jeep due to the recall. They have not offered any type of replacement at this point, other than the hassle of a long term rental that I have to pay for up front and wait on reimbursement.

Received notice in September of 2016 that the occupant restraint controller was faulty and would result in a loss of airbag or seatbelt pretensioner in the event of a crash. I have contacted fca through their website as well as called my local Jeep dealer (jim click auto mall) and are told only that there are no parts available. A year and no parts is not fixing a problem that could lead to death in a "timely manner".
