problem #2

Jul 112015

Wrangler 4.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 230,000 miles

When I turn on the Jeep within about 5 minutes of having the lights on, they will start to flicker on and off randomly. The tail lights stay on and the ambers dim a little when the headlights go out. When the problem first started, if I turned off the Jeep for a minute or so and restarted it the lights would work for a little while then go out again, but now it is constant. I can't even drive around the block without issues. It is a pain in the butt because you can't drive at night without headlights. This happened once before about 6 months prior and I was able to fix that with a new switch for under the dash for about $20 and had no issues until this started happening in July. I have checked everything I could think of and the only thing left to try was a new wire set. I found a website online with a guy who had the same issues and he has a very detailed video of how to fix the issue along with a link to the wire set bought (about $30). Hopefully this will be a fix for the issue because I miss driving my Jeep at night.

Wrangler 4.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 130,000 miles

Why no recall! This is dangerous, so I don't drive it at night.

They want $800 per headlight to repair, so much for gas savings (most gas savings were eaten by the high price of the vehicle). Not liking Toyota anymore.

Update from Oct 9, 2014: This is misfiled. My complaint was for my 2008 Prius
