I had an auto repair take the screen code off (P0456;P0442: P0445). Then went to have smogged. It passed. A few days later I noticed, the digital mileage was not right. It went from 68,184 to 42,444. A drop of 25,740. Yesterday, I noticed it rolled to 41,525. It is rolling backwards. I called both the maintenance shop and the smog shop to see if perhaps they have done something by accident. Both have never heard of this. My jeep has a screen code on it that came on with this. Error message P1494, leak defect pump pressure swithc or mechanical fault. It is probably "mechanical fault" due to something mechanically wrong with my odometer. I will need to report this to my insurance company as I report mileage every year; however, I don't think I need to report it to the DMV. I am not quite sure what I will do with this. I have another car in the shop costing a lot for repair, so really can't afford to put out more money. Has anyone ever ran across this? If so, what did you do? Thanks for your thoughts. ~Sue
