Just in the past year or so I've noticed issues with my 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited X. At first I paid no mind and brushed it off. One of the first things I noticed happening was my door locks were randomly unlocking and headlights randomly coming on. At first I thought it was the remote but I had that checked out and replaced the battery and that apparently wasn't the issue. I've had my dash light up like a xmas tree randomly. Recently my radiator fan was staying on all the time instead of turning off when engine is turned off. sometimes it would turn off and work properly but other times it would stay on. Had a code reader plugged in and it said TIPM was bad. Called my local Dodge dealership to see if my jeep had a recall with my vin and as I expected they said NO. So looks like I'm gonna have to come out of pocket to resolve this bs.

I was driving down the interstate, when it shut down completely! Scary almost crashed! There is a recall on the TIPM for the 2007 Wrangler, but my vin# is not one of them. Had to pay $1200 and that’s very difficult on a set income. This has been a nightmare and cooperate does not give a sh*t.

My car started acting up. Neighbors would come regularly ring my house bell to let me know that the Jeep's headlights were on. The problem: it wouldn't stay locked. It would automatically lock and unlock whenever. We only have street parking at home and it was very stressful to leave the car open at night in the street or even when going places. Also the windshield wipers started getting stuck in the middle of the windshield or sometimes stopped working completely. This is very dangerous especially at high speeds on the highway! Finally, the right blinker wouldn't work and that problem seemed to be related to the broken locking/unlocking system.

After going back and forth to two different mechanics 5 times (each time they said it was fixed but it wasn't) they replaced the TIPM and all the wiper motor parts and reprogramming everything properly. It is now a functional car again! It was a big bill and on top of that I had to spend money on Lyft and was very handicapped without a car!

I have little money to be replacing everything that the deals have told me was wrong with my jeep. I could have paid for a new one with this BS. The jeep went into limp mode on vacation and then it shut off right on a bridge. I was almost run over by a big truck as I was trying to move over in the lanes. My dash lit up like a Christmas tree and I pulled over to the side of the road after I coasted off the bridge. I turned the jeep off and then waited a few minutes and the turned it back on. All seemed fine and then 100 yards down the road it went to low gear limping again . We made it two miles down the road after stopping several times to restart to the next exit. No service areas open at 1:00 in the morning. Stayed at a motel over night and then took it to the only service open on Sunday, a Sears auto center. On the way to the shop we had no problems but I was going extremely slow. The mechanic was real nice and checked the engine and diagnostics. He found several codes and said the jeep should not be running. He checked it again and different codes came up. I told him what happened and that it was running good in the morning. He cleared the codes disconnected the battery and said that this would allow the jeep to run for a couple of hundred miles befor it would reset. I could make it home but vaca was off. It ran great home and when I took it to a jeep dealer they said they could not find anything wrong so I kept driving 10000 miles then all of a sudden engine light comes on and the same thing. I got out and disconnected the battery and it ran fine. Another 10000 miles same thing and on and on. Went through one inspection with no problem. Second inspection jeep is 7 years old and can't pass because of the codes. Take it to a dealer to fix and they said my TIPM needs to be replaced for $2000 but said that it could be inspected the old fashion way. They gave me a pass with the jeep. Jeep is now 9 years old and I need it to be inspected. I take it in and they say it needs a new catylitic converter.............

This Jeep has acted like it was possessed off and on for years, its always been diagnosed as a bad battery. I replaced the battery and things seem ok for awhile but in this case I have just recently replaced the battery so I know its not an issue. check engine light came on for a day then went away, next morning it would crank but had no dash lights other than the radio and the gear shift was stuck in park. when i disconnect the battery it resets the TIPM and things go back to normal until i shut it off, then it's the same thing all over again. I've done some research and apparently this is a common problem with jeep owners everywhere. the problem is clearly a bad TIPM. there was a recall on my year jeep just not my particular jeep. i couldn't upload a video but i will paste it here anyway.

drove to work. car worked fine. got in car and started after work and all the dash lights were on and none of the gauges worked. Drove car home and car sat in driveway overnight. got in car in morning and totally dead, nothing works. had to get towed to a dealer and they are telling me the TIPM (at least I think that's what the guy is saying on the phone) needs replacing and my battery is dead. Well my battery is less that a year old and it was top of the line battery. WTH?? Second problem with this Jeep. Also had that Death Shake thing with the front end. Everything that goes wrong with this Jeep ends up costing over a $1,000. Be prepared to pay if you own one or buy one!

Update from Mar 14, 2017: 2017 - so 6 months after last $1,000 + repair, my Jeep suffered another ordeal. Brakes totally went on it. Took to dealer. So the brake lines were bad and needed replacing. Ok, I can deal with normal wear. But, also, no water in the overflow coolant bottle and none visible in the radiator. Also, no oil registering on the dip stick. I am not ok with that because no warnings on the dash lit! Car did not register hot on gauge, although it always runs hot. Oil light did not come on! I don't make it a habit of checking these things every day! So they tell me there were gasket leaks, so no water which also made the Jeep burn oil. I just don't know if they have fixed this or not. All I know is they had it a couple days and my bill was again $1,000. Want to add that my Jeep is 10 years old yes, but I still only have 89,000 miles on it. I love my Jeep but am tired of the expensive repairs that seem to be happening every 6 months.

As soon as I turn the car over, my dash lights, headlights come on. The headlight stalk and the windshield wiper stalk are inoperable. It's a safety hazard to drive my car. And after researching through multiple forums and sites online, it looks like this is a fairly common problem, with a non-standard resolution. Not looking forward to the hours I'm going to have to spend getting this addressed. I hope I'm wrong.

Failure of a component such as the TIPM should NEVER occur. Renders the airbags and everything related to the electronics on the vehicle worthless. This is a widespread problem and should be a total recall!

Can't drive it at all. Obviously a defective TIPM. Horn honks, wipers and fluid squirting the engine shuts down or won't shut off. Probably will have to have it towed to a Jeep mechanic to have a new TIPM installed. $$$$ Jeep needs to issue a recall on this.

On top of that I've spent lots of money trying to correct the Death Wobble (still does it when I hit a small bump)

Bad experience with this Jeep.

I tried to toot my horn and it didn't honk. strange but no big deal. Then about 10 seconds later, all hell breaks loose. The horn starts honking on it's own. Then the wipers start running, the wiper fluid starts squirting, the light started flashing and the radio came on. I turned the key off and removed it from the ignition but the engine kept running. I had to remove the battery cables to stop the madness. A few minutes later I reconnected the battery cables and started the engine, no problems for about 30 seconds then again it all started back up.. horn,wipers, fluid, lights.

After researching the issue on the internet it appears that there are lots of people with the same issues and it all points to the TIPM problems with this model as well as other Chrysler models. Wondering if Jeep has a recall and if they will fix the problem without it costing me too much.

At this point I have the battery disconnected because I'm worried that it might short out all the electrical and cause a fire in my garage. Anyone have any ideas or experience dealing with Jeep to get this fixed?

Driving down the HWY at 90-100km/hr, my speedometer started going crazy and a couple of lights came on, it appeared to be my traction control light and another light I didn't see before it shut off. The lights only flickered for a moment but it happened approx 6 times within a 20 minute span. Not a comfortable feeling, I didn't loose power though or any steering. Not sure what this is all about but it has done this to me once before but that was months ago...

Jeep's electrical system has a mind of its own.. Occasionally "reboots" while driving and all gauges and electronics stop working for a few seconds and then start back.. The dealership initially said it was a loose wire and "fixed" it. The problem still continues. Nowadays when i hit the unlock button on the car the stereo will occasionally turn on and the power windows sometimes stop working and I have to turn the car off and back on to fix it... but the computer is fine according to the stealership.. Ive always been loyal to Jeep and currently own 3 Wranglers but these problems along with the death wobble will keep me from ever buying a newer Jeep vehicle again.

Windshield wipers and lights failed to work during icy rain/snowy conditions. Road visibility was significantly impaired and I couldn't see my instrument panel. I had no option but to continue home at very slow speeds to avoid an accident. After approximately 20 minutes of driving without wipers, the wipers suddenly turned on by themselves, moving very fast. I could not adjust the wiper speed at all. When I arrived home and turned the Jeep off and removed the keys, wipers still would not turn off. I had to disconnect the battery to stop the wipers. Dealer claims it was a faulty wiper motor. I advised them I think it's a faulty TIPM based on what I researched/read online. They assured me the TIPM was working fine. When they ordered and installed the new wiper motor, it didn't fix the problem. They then admitted they were wrong with the diagnostic and the TIPM was faulty. They advised me that I need a new TIPM and that all TIPMs are on nationwide back order. Seems TIPM failure is a recurring theme amongst certain Jeep Wrangler models. If your lights and wipers can go out while operating the vehicle, this is a huge safety hazard. I called Chrysler to complain and have yet to hear back from them.

I was on a road trip and my turn signals, interior lights, and windshield wipers quit working on three separate occasions. During the 10 1/2 hour drive, I went through many thunderstorms and when my windshield wipers suddenly quit working I was unable to see and my turn signals also went out so I couldn't alert nearby semi-trucks of my need to pull over. It was very nerve-racking and dangerous.
