The seat belt light stayed on with airbag warning dinging. I went in for a repair and the item was under recall 3 months prior to the manufacturing date. Supposedly the recall problem was fixed before jeep was manufactured, but the inflator still went bad as the recall had mentioned. I believe that an old inflator was installed on the airbag steering column and was never checked. My Jeep is a right hand drive and the same problem occurred even after corporate said it was no longer a problem.
Corporate says that I will have to pay for new airbag system which cost 1200.00 dollars. and the vehicle only has 51 thousand miles. It is a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Sport Unlimited. I know my 3 year or 36000 mile warranty is off but I do not see why Corporate can't pay to have it replaced since it was a prior recall. Even at least half of the charge.
All I can say is if anyone wants to buy a Jeep then make sure to check everything out before you buy. My vehicle was built 3 months after they said it was fixed on recall. I just hope that the right people see this complaint. I live on an income and this is entirely too much to have to swallow. Thanks for reading and listening.
