After reading this happened to someone else it should be noted as a not random and plausible problem.

I was driving on a country road in Colorado with nobody else around. I turned on my defroster to defog the front window and here a pop then saw the crack go from one side to the other. After inspecting the window there were no signs where any rock or anything hit the window.

Yesterday I had my defrost on because it was cold, it was snowy and I wanted a clear windshield when I drove. Kinda what I have been doing with warming up cars in winter weather fro the past 20 years.

When I turned the defrost to regular heat and headed to work a mile away, I was not even 2 blocks out of my neighborhood when I heard a large crack. I didn't know what it was and I was the only one on my street so I didn't think too much about it until I was bringing my kid to school an hour later (delayed opening) and I saw a 2 inch crack on my windshield, in the center, originating under where the wiper blade rests. The crack has since spread it's wings another 2-3 inches on my ride home yesterday.

I contacted Jeep and while they say too bad, so sad, contact insurance. I live in a state where insurance says pay deductible, not free replacement, and it is below my high deductible anyway. So unless Jeep owns up to this known defect I am SOL.

I have searched the Jeep forums and apparently this is a known issue from the defrost. I had no issue in the past when my EZ Pass was situated there but I moved it so I could see, and well second or third time using defrost and my windshield is sh*t. Coincidence? I don't think so.

My car is under warranty and I have never in my life owned a vehicle where the windshield cracked because of defrost, NOT EVEN MY FORD PINTO!!! So seriously Jeep needs to get their act together and address this issue.
