The Jeep was being driven to a dealership to get checked for recalls due to the engine stuttering and stalling, radio and navigation not working, and just not running right. All of the sudden the engine -€˜blew up-€™ and it stopped running. The Jeep was rolled to the side of the road and oil was seen leaking out of a hole in the underside of the engine. Pics were taken. It was towed to a dealership. No inspection has been performed yet to determine what the cause of the catastrophic failure is.

All warning lights on the dash lit up. All gauges (tach, speed, fuel) fell to zero while I was traveling at 55 mph. Engine stayed running. Power steering failed but would engage intermittently causing over steering when it caught. Found a safe place to get off the road and turned vehicle off for 1/2 hour. The vehicle ran fine afterward. Limped it to the dealer a day later and they diagnosed it as a "star connector" problem. They said they've seen it before. There's much discussion on the internet about it occurring with the 2018 Wranglers. Jeep said that the replacement connector is just the same as the one which failed so this could happen again if the connector is not improved. Loss of steering is life threatening especially when it goes on and off intermittently.

The vehicle intermittently fails to shift into gear when started. This also happens intermittently while driving (when stopped the engine turns off while the brake pedal is depressed. When the engine restarts to go forward it behaves as if it is in neutral and won't engage.) Additionally, on occasion, the instrument panel fails to function while in operation. There is a blog thread on this issue as experienced by others: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/service-shifter.24255/ ***Note, the date listed below is when we first began experiencing this issue. This is an ongoing issue which is experience 5 or more times per week. The vehicle has been in and out of the shop without resolution. The cost is out of pocket. The vehicle is currently sitting at the dealership shop considered "unsafe to operate" while we wait on a solution.

2018 Jeep Wrangler JK Sport Unlimited rubber hood catch failed due to gust of wind generated by oncoming semi-truck on two lane highway (HWY 54) while being driven at highway speed. Luckily the other rubber catch and front center hood safety catch hook did not fail. Going on-line, one finds numerous complaints about this problem for some time and has been reported to you for the last couple of years. In discussion with Jeep Dealership Parts department, they said the part has not been upgraded.

I have two issues to report. First issue was while driving on interstate the dash went completely out. Had no idea my speed, fuel level, navigation....nothing. I slowed down to get off the road. Stopped and turned off engine. Turned it back on and nothing. Then it just popped on. I was able to continue on my way. Then I started having the second issue. Second issue to report. The Uconnect display monitor touch screen system is delaminating and now it changes stations, systems (navigation, weather, etc) on its own. I checked the Jeep blogs and this is a consistent problem for the past 8 years. There is an adhesive problem that Jeep/Chrysler is well aware of. To stop this flickering of stations from happening, I have to drive with one hand and take my finger on the other hand keeping it constantly pressed against SXM button. Or turn off the radio. This is a 4 1/2 yr old jeep with 68,000 miles. Jeep will not do anything except replace it at retail cost. I am not alone with this issue. There are 100's of stories on the internet blogs. This should be a recall issue to protect the consumers from extremely poor quality from a company like Chrysler. They knew this was a quality issue jet continued producing a faulty product. They should be better than this and held accountable.

Since May of this year I have been trying to get my vehicle diagnosed and repaired. Multiple warning lights and messages go off at various times. Vehicle loses power steering and speed detection at a minimum. I have been to 3 different dealers at 5 separate times. A STAR case was opened by Fiat/Chrysler but was closed despite lack of diagnosis by dealer and concerns that the vehicle was not safe to drive. I have spent thousands of dollars and communicated multiple times to Fiat with no resolution. I have noted on various forums people complaining of similar issues. The following warnings are noted at frequent intervals; ABS needs service, shift module needs service, do not shift, do not turn off power, traction control, battery warnings and many more. Every possible warning indicator is coding. At previous dealer visit to current, the dealer advised that they could not diagnose and told me to pick up the vehicle. I advised Fiat and they supported me getting my vehicle despite concerns that it was unsafe. All documented.

The Uconnect screen is delaminating causing the screen to change and override all driver selections at will while driving. This is a safety risk because it is a huge distraction while driving when the system is changing settings back and forth while beeping. The problem was confirmed by my Jeep dealer and since I'm out of warranty it will be over $1,000 to replace. No, it was not inspected by any other party except the dealer. The only indication of the problem was you can visually see the separation by the appearance of a bubble in the screen.

When driving or starting up the dashboard & radio will be pitch black not showing anything. Now when I started it up the other day I went to stop at a light and the Auto Shut Off warning light popped on and just stopped working. It will frequently reboot itself by radio standards and shut down the entire jeep system.

Multiple times the check engine light, air bag lights, powertrain light have went off. I took it to the dealership, they said nothing was wrong and reset the lights. The last time this happened, all power went out on my Jeep Wrangler. I pulled it to the side. Sat for a while and drove 20 home. I called the Jeep dealership and they inspected my car. 160 warnings were on the electric scan. The mechanic called Chrysler--they charged me almost a 1,000 to fix something in the steering column. I have no warranty as it has been over 3 years. I took my car back and the dealership mechanic said he wasn't sure if he fixed it and I should call Chrysler. We did. My case # is 82498233. They said they couldn't do anything about it. Since then, my car keeps losing power while I am driving. I pull it over and sit and then it starts working within 15 minutes. No one knows what is wrong with it. It is a 2018.5 Jeep Wrangler. I am teaching my son to drive on it and it is very scary.

This car lost power steering while driving on the expresway. The lights blink, windshield wipers go off, and all the warning lights flash. It will stop and not allow you to drive. I was told it was fixed after a software update but it continues to happen and it's gotten worse. They are now saying it needs a wire harness replacement. This vehicle is very dangerous.

My back window on my Jeep Wrangler will not zip back up all the way. I have only unzipped the back window once, and that was to wipe the inside of the window because it was hard to see clearly though the back window. When I tried zipping the window back up, the zipper did not zip up all the way, and now there is an opening, and water is getting into my jeep. The zipper has never been used except this time, so I could clean the inside of the window. This incident happened about a month ago, and now so much water has come through the opening, it has rusted and ruined my brand new Jack and Jack lift that came with my jeep. Rain gets through the opening, especially if it rains really hard, and a puddle of rain will stay on my soft top, and when I go to drive it after the puddle of rain has been sitting on top of my soft top, that puddle drains right down the pack of my top, and gets down into the hole. I have also noticed bugs and insects getting through that hole and into my vehicle. Mosquitos usually always get through that opening every time it rains, and wasps get through it too. With wasps going in and out of this opening, I fear they may try to build a nest in my car, since they come and go out of that opening. I have 2 small children, and cannot drive around with this opening in my soft top with my kids. That it a dangerous situation, and the rain getting into that hole is ruining the inside of my Jeep.

There is a common complaint among owners of 2018 and newer Jeep Wranglers. The visors can become detached from their main support allowing them to impede the visibility of the driver and any passengers in the vehicle. Typically the visors break when being raised or lower, however due to the minimal effort it takes to cause the defect to be created the visor can swing wildly if jarred loose during an accident or driving in an emergency which could strike a driver or passenger in the face or chest. I would like an investigation started into resolving this issues as owners are having to pay for new visors only to have them repeatedly break due to the design.

My jeep makes a thumping/clunking sound when ever I take my feet off the acceleration and slow down. When sitting in the Jeep it sound like it's coming from the front end suspension but when I stick my head out the window to listen and look for the sound it's clearly coming from the rear axle. I've done extensive research regarding this issue on jeep forums. I've found that this is a common issue among jeep jl owners. all have experience sounds that sound like its coming from the front only to find our it coming from the rear and also to have entire axle replaced. I fear this is getting worst as many has also said that upon inspecting axle metal shavings are found in diffs.

Instrument cluster failed at 5 AM (completely dark) when wife on interstate on way to airport: no speedometer, no odometer, no gas gauge, no -€œidiot-€ lights, and so on -€" all of which have safety concerns associated with them. Took 2 weeks to get appt. w/ dealer. When they found there was no odometer on the cluster, they in essence impounded the vehicle -€" something about legally they could not let her drive it until the replacement cluster came in. This indicates a serious safety and/or legal liability issue. Couldn-€™t estimate how long that would be. Vehicle had only 29,481 miles on it! It took two trips to dealer and $1241.72 to complete the repairs. (Somehow they were able to get the odometer setting on the replacement cluster matched to actual mileage by an internal mechanism I didn't understand.) Please note that the Jeep forums indicate this problem was not an isolated incident! Filed claim for reimbursement of repairs and was flatly denied. Service record, complaint to Jeep, and (unsatisfactory) response attached. I recommend a recall for this defect. Please let me know the results of your investigation. Thanks!

My Jeep experienced sever wobbling, as if the front wheels were coming off. So, I took it to a repair shop and they said it was the "death wobble." When I took it to the Autonation Jeep Dealership, South, Columbus GA. I was told that they had a recall on that 2 years and 3 months ago, and since the 2 year warranty expired, there was nothing they could do about it. If a recall doesn't work, then isn't the dealership still required to fix a manufacturer defect? My Jeep had an additional recall, which the dealership performed last week, and the dealership thought this new recall (computer update) might fix the death wobble problem. When I picked up my Jeep last week after this second recall, my heat and A/C no longer worked--all controls on the Jeep no longer worked. The dealership said they just followed the procedure in the recall, and since the recall resulted in the loss of my heat, A/C and defrosting, that I needed to deal with Jeep USA. I have submitted my case to Customer Care (FCA US, LLC) at Jeep USA, and they are telling me they might be able to ship a part in 6 weeks. My car has no heater. No accountability. I need to be compensated for the damages they have caused to my Jeep! Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I'm describing this is a steering problem, but it may easily include suspension as well. I've experienced the so-called death wobble several times since buying this Jeep. I had chalked it up as being part of having 4WD (though operating in 2WD), but I never had this problem with a much older Jeep, and it doesn't seem like it should be acceptable. Twice on this day traveling around 60 MPH, the steering began to shake with the whole vehicle wobbling. I was able to stop it after slowing down below about 40 MPH or so. I haven't found a common culprit, though it's been triggered by hitting bridge expansion joints on the highway... particularly if I'm not going perfectly straight. I'm fearful of driving over 55 MPH, and I don't think that's acceptable. While I kept control, I don't know if that will always happen. I fear losing control and possibly rolling over. It has not been reproduced or confirmed. It has not been inspected. No warning lamps or messages showed.
