Purchased 2020 rubicon jl - dead space on steering at hwy speeds, driving more than 30 minutes is mentally and physically exhausting trying to keep it in lane. Taken to service and they avoid admitting anything wrong. Needs a major steering box overhaul or recall, software update. Something electrical is not communicating. Death trap.
Bought this Saturday July 18th 2020. The steering is very dangerous. It takes 2 hands to drive. Drifts side to side. Your constantly trying to keep it straight. I never thought Jeep would have this kind of horrific vehicle leave there plant. Lots and lots of complaints and still nothing. Took it to dealership in sterling il with jerry the manager saying they are all like this when driving a Jeep. Terrible....
Steering has a tremendous amount of play at all driving speeds but more noticeable at higher speed(55mph) being speed limit. Steering wheel does not re-center. Extremely dangerous. Exhausting just to stay in lane. Dealership made an adjustment to gearbox but no change.
Jeep will wander at highway speeds, not safe to drive, dealer just pass it off 2020 rubicon 4 door 1500 miles. Jeep will not respond to my concerns, been 5 day no follow up.
Just bought this Jeep 3 days ago, and it exibits loose steering to the point that is hard to keep vehicle in lane. On one occassion while driving the passenger side of the Jeep hit an uneven surface in the road and immediatly veered tot he right almost driving us into an embankment. The uneven surface was just a very minor dip. This needs to be addressed immediatly before someone gets killed. I am registering my complaint today as prrof that I made Jeep aware and for possible future litigation.

There is a 3" dead-zone in the steering of this vehicle - meaning, when the steering wheel is turned left or right up to 3", there is no steering response. As a result, the vehicle drifts all over the roadway and becomes very difficult to keep straight on the roadway. This is a safety issue as the driver will encounter uncontrolled drift into other lanes of travel.
The steering is causing the vehicle to wander all over the road. It is an unsafe condition. I feel like I have to constantly over correct (left & right) the steering to keep the car on a strait line which makes it very unsafe and hard to drive. This is a brand new car, it should not have this issue.please recall and fix this issue.
New Jeep jlu has dangerous wondering wheel (excessive wheel play). Need to take back to the dealer. Seems many online are having this issue. I almost got into an accident driving on the highway last night with my family.
My new 2020 Jeep Wrangler sport has excessive steering-wheel play resulting in an inability to maintain a straight line at speed on the interstates. Unlike my previous 2018 Wrangler sahara, or current 2020 Grand Cherokee, which permit total steering control, the sport moves from side-to-side, I.e., "floats, " in the drafts of tractor trailers as they pass, or in crosswinds, or on bumpy roads. Can't maintain a straight line in the lane, only able to recover as the vehicle drifts from center. The dealership's service dept says it's not fixable; Chrysler's customer concern dept says it's a "factory built wheel assembly and can't be adjusted." As I've driven all models of Jeep for some 30 years, I'm quite disappointed inasmuch as it's a serious safety issue not being able to fully control the front end at speed on the highway.
I have had my Jeep for 9 months now. Steering is horrible and at high speeds dangerous! it is impossible to keep in a straight line. I was told by the dealer that this is a "Jeep" thing and that I would get used to it, but I found out today that older Jeep do not have an issue as bad as the 2019/2020 models and that I need to get it looked at. I do not know what to do at this point as I do not feel safe driving above 55 mph in my Jeep.
The contact owns a 2020 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle drifted to the left and to the right. The vehicle was taken to weekley Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram (50 main St, butler, oh 44822, (419) 883-2461) to be diagnosed. The mechanic was unable to provide the cause for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was unknown.
Vehicle has loose steering causing the vehicle to wander on the road. It is an unsafe condition and could cause an accident, injury, or death. This happens when the vehicle is in motion on the roads for freeways. Tire pressure was set to recommended level of 36psi.
Bought the vehicle brand new on 06/19/2020. Since driving the steering has became significantly loose. Alot of play in the wheel. Driving on roads its very hard to keep straight. I do not feel safe driving it. Feels like you have to constantly correct while driving. Feels like im going to crash into another car. There is alot of dead zone in the wheel. This must be looked at. This os not a "Jeep thing".
Am unable to keep vehicle driving straight on the road. Am having to constantly keep moving the steering wheel to keep vehicle straight. Steering wheel has about an half to inch play before it affects steering windt road or narrow roads very dangerous. Have taken to dealership and theysay they can not help. The steering issue is know issue on 2018 and 2019;and appears to be on 2020. This need to be resolve before someone dies from this steering issue.
Steering wheel has a lot of play in it and does not stay straight when driving on highway or interstate driving. Dealer said it's normal on the new Jeep.
Driving fully stock at speeds near 60 mph on highways, car seems to want to steer dangerously either right or left & the play in the steering greatly increases & needs some correction to avoid likely collisions.
