Engine Light shows @ 65k miles. Mechanic at a non KIA dealer changes oil, then tries to inspect vehicle. Vehicle will not pass inspection (despite engine light now being off) because engine failure or Oil Control Valve code stills disallows Emissions passing. Go to KIA service, (where I purchased the new vehicle), they inspect and pass the vehicle. 3 days later, engine light returns, and they claim Engine Control Valve needs replacement @ ~ $240.00. KIA requires proof of oil changes for the replacement valve to be performed under warranty. Here they intimate that IF we cannot prove/document oil changes each 3,750 miles, THEN our 10 year, 100,000 mile warranty may be voided.
