This is the third time since purchase that a vertical crack occurred on the plastic housing on the glass of the lift-gate. As was told to me on the previous replacement, the dealership would not fix the lift-gate. However, this time the locking mechanism on the lift-gate no longer worked either. I spoke with the dealership about this "serious" issue and I agreed that I should pay for the plastic housing, but the broken locking system was dangerous and that I should not have to replace the broken lift-gate lock. They pressured the issue that this item was not the responsibility of the warranty or the dealership. I asked them to please work on fixing the lock only.

The dealership agreed to look and work on the lock. They were unable to fix the lock and returned the automobile with the broken locking mechanism, but only now, the lift-gate lock was not latching at all and automobile was in worse shape than when I dropped it off. In addition, I gave them a few parts (from the broken lock) that had fallen into my back trunk space. In addition to worsening the problem, the service department lost the addition locking parts.

I returned the automobile several more times regarding this issue, and the dealership finally admitted that the two previous times that they had fixed my lift-gate/glass and locking mechanism, they never replaced the glass. They admitted that because they did not replace the glass, this was the reason the plastic housing cracked again, and why the "rotting and rusting" occurred on the lift gate lock.
