The contact owns a 2000 Mitsubishi Galant. While driving approximately 35 mph, the headlights illuminated without warning and would not dim. The contact stated that her turn signals were also inoperative. When the vehicle was turned off, the lights remained illuminated. The dealer stated that her VIN was not included in NHTSA campaign id number 99V305001 (exterior lighting:headlights:switch) and (exterior lighting:turn signal:switch). The contact would have to repair the vehicle at her own expense. The dealer will install a redesigned switch. She is waiting to hear back from the dealer. The powertrain was unknown. The current and failure mileages were 146,000.

: the contact stated while driving various speeds, the windshield wipers intermittently failed when engaged. Additionally, upon engaging the headlight switch, the headlights would not illuminate. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer who determined the lever arm linkage of the windshield wipers and the headlight switch needed to be replaced. There was a NHTSA recall, # 99V305001, regarding the headlight switch. The vehicle was not included in the recall due to the VIN. The manufacturer was alerted.
