CarComplaints.com Notes: In a very limited selection on small pickup trucks, the Frontier is one of the best options except -- and I cannot emphasize this enough -- for one problem that makes it an avoid-at-all-costs pain in you know what: the radiator ruptures and leaks coolant into the transmission, killing it. Such a buzzkill.

This problem affects most 2005-2008 (and maybe beyond) Frontiers.

05 nismo Frontier, I had a ticking noise while driving. My engine light was on with a catalytic converter code, gas gage was intermittent. Took it to the dealer. Had to replace the fuel sending unit, get a new catalytic converter and have my driveline replace because it was blown. The truck had 94K when I took it in for repairs. I am currently trying to find a possible coolant leak. I can smell it but can't find where it is coming from.

2005 Nissan Frontier with M226 (dana 44, V6 engine) rear end. The axle seals on both the driver and passenger sides are leaking and oil is getting on the rear brakes causing them to not work properly. I have had Nissan fix this 2 times (5/09 and 8/09) and it started leaking again 12/09. That makes this 3 times in under a year. This axle is the same as used in Nissan titans which are also experiencing the problem. Each time the seals were replaced and each time it started leaking within a month of the repair, taking a few months to become dangerous and get on the brake rotors.
