2012 frontier differential started shacking at 75 mph took it in. needed replaced. cost 3200$. left thinking I could run this truck for another 100.000 miles per Nissan. ran for 3 months, transmission started slipping, started having coolant issues at same time. did not put the 2 issues together until looking at this site. told by Nissan I would have to come up with another chunk of cash approx. 3200$ because problems are not related. traded truck for 2017. now this frontier is having coolant problems that is why I came to this site. we also have a 2014 rogue. 50000 miles its taking the same path coolant issues and differential shaking. its under warranty ill let you know what happens

Frontier SV 4.0L

  • Manual transmission
  • 35,000 miles

My truck has been in the shop now for two weeks while the dealership waits for a back ordered rear differential. I bought the truck with 27,000 miles on it and it drove whisper quiet for a couple months. Then I noticed a hydraulic sounding whine from the back of the truck. It was really loud at highway speeds. I had two dealerships look into it with no real answers. Finally, I was told I needed a new rear differential and that it would be covered under the power train warranty. Good thing I got it in at 54,000. The dealership offers rentals, not loaners. If you have service done there they reduce the daily rate, but at this point it is turning into a lot of money. The service department is trying to get the warranty to cover the cost of the rental since I am without my vehicle due to a back ordered part. I guess we will see how it goes! I also want to mention that the dealership would not tell me whether or not it was safe to drive the truck, and since it was warranty work they could not disclose to me what was wrong with the differential. I think that is a really crappy way to treat a customer who has spent thousands of hard earned dollars for a product that obviously has some engineering/manufacturing flaws. I will never buy another Nissan, and will tell everyone I know not to buy Nissan. I will update once I get some kind of closure to this matter.
