When we purchased the car it had a massive crack in the windshield, it was replaced once under agreement with the dealership as it was damaged before purchase. This took months as the windshields were apparently very hard to get.
Shortly after that the windshield formed another crack that the dealership claimed was due to a chip in the top of the windshield likely caused by a rock, therefore I would have to replace it myself. This replacement cost $400 with insurance, the installer could not verify the cause of the cracking.
Just within the last 2 days I have found a new crack in the new windshield that has no apparent source. The crack seems to have formed from the outer driver side along the bottom with no visible chips or other damage. I am not looking forward to attempting to get this repaired or replaced as it will most likely fall onto me to pay for it even though there is no sign of any damage source.
