It seems this is a common problem. Bought a Qashqai in 2008, and in it's 5th year, within a span of 2 months, three of my four inner door handles broke. Both rear, and driver. (apologies for not logging this as three separate issues)
Upon contacting Nissan in my country, I was informed this is considered as normal wear. So it seems, when you are budgeting for tires and brake disks/pads, if you own a Nissan Qashqai or Murano, you should also save up for replacing door handles now and then.
