There is clearly an acceleration problem with the 2010 Nissan Rogue; over 900,000 people have complained and a recall has not been issued. It seems that the car has problems accelerating after it was stopped. It typically did this if you were either stopped on a hill or if you stopped after driving high speeds on the interstate. After several incidents over the course of 3 months (I purchased vehicle August 2014), the "service engine soon" light is now on. I have just a little over 38,000 miles on the vehicle. The loss of acceleration is dangerous for both exiting the interstate and turning right on red.

Driving at highway speed, the vehicle would refuse to accelerate to pass a vehicle. Happened multiple times on a 1 hour road trip, causing near fatality as car would not accelerate up a hill and when in the course of passing a disabledvehicle, the car would not speed up enough to keep up with traffic speed in adjacent lane, causing driver behind vehicle to slam on brakes to avoid collision. The vehicle refused to accelerate the remainder of the trip (1 hour more) and engine light illuminated.

Going at freeway speed...could not accelerate, neither to pass nor to recover from having to slow down for traffic. When pressing down the gas pedal, nothing happened: No acceleration and no increase in RPM. First time it happened, I was going up a hill. Now it happens any time I have been driving for 30 minutes or more, flat road or incline. The car does fine initially and during normal stop and go city driving for short durations. Thought perhaps it was a clogging in fuel injectors, so cleaned them out to no avail. Dealer says they "can find nothing wrong." This is a dangerous flaw that needs to be corrected by Nissan!!!!

The vehicle hesitates while in reverse and also in drive when accelerating causing a delay within the traffic intersections and while driving on hills. Dealer was unable to find codes and unable to duplicate the problem. The problem is intermittent. It happens when engine is warm goes away after cooling down.

My daughter and I were returning home driving on interstate hwy when car suddenly and unexpectedly loss acceleration in heavy traffic on interstate, going from 75-80 mph to 50-60 mph within a minute causing braking and swerving of cars behind us because we were in left lane and could not get over. Seemed to occur on upward incline of road. Took car to Nissan dealership because warranty is still in effect, and was told that their diagnoses showed no problem with the transmission. Service manager told me he knew of some problems with transmissions, but could not make repairs unless corporate Nissan reimbursed them. I was basically told to drive the car until it "broke' and then they could fix it. I am afraid to drive car on interstate now- fear deadly crash.

Is Nissan the next Toyota?? we were pulling out of a shopping center and the vehicle failed to properly accelerate. The gas pedal was pushed to the floor, acceleration was at minimum and the rpms revved up extremely high. Thank goodness no one hit us. Finally, the gear caught and all was well. It seemed like the transmission may have slipped. Then we got to my parents' home and parked. Then we went to move out of park and the gears wouldn't change (automatic cvt transmission). We had the vehicle towed to the nearest certified Nissan repair facility. In the meanwhile, I located information on Nissan's website regarding the warranty on the transmission and found that Nissan extended the warranty from 5 years/60,000 miles to 10 years/120,000 miles for 'customer satisfaction' purposes and here is the information about that www.nissanassist.com/web/cvt/programdetails.php"menu=9 and the vehicles that are included in the issue are located here www.nissanassist.com/web/cvt/vehicles.php?menu=11 so the dealership calls us on June 23 to advise they could not replicate the issue with the transmission and the problem with getting the vehicle out of park was an electronic issue. I am not a mechanic but it does seem strange that we would have experienced the first issue, then the vehicle wouldn't come out of park" I spoke with regional specialists at Nissan North America and was told that if the mechanics cannot replicate, then no repair will be authorized under the warranty and that the likely cause of my issue was dirty transmission fluid. I feel this is a huge safety issue because if you pull out into traffic, expecting your vehicle to go and it doesn't, someone is eventually going to get seriously injured!

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle decelerated. The failure would occur intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where they refused to service the vehicle due to the mileage being over 80,000. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic where it was diagnosed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

As we accelerated the car began to jerk. After a few miles the car slowed down in speed and would not go passed 40mph. The car was set to 70mph on cruise control then it dropped speed and would not accelerate causing me to get off of highway right away. This is not the first time this has happened. It has been taken to Nissan dealership to fix the problem but this time it's worse.

The contact owns a 2010 Nissan Rogue. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated to 90 mph. The contact applied the brakes but to no avail. The contact then removed the key from the ignition and applied the brakes, and the vehicle began to decelerate. The contact took the vehicle the dealer for a diagnostic test where it was advised that the power train was defective. The dealer replaced the power train but the repair did not remedy the failure. The contact was awaiting further diagnosis of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000. The VIN was not available.

After driving vehicle for about an hour, car would not accelerate. Gas pedal would be pushed all the way to the floor and RPM's would not exceed 3000rpm. When foot was taken off of the accelerator and pushed back to floor board, RPM's would increase to 3000 and then decrease back down to 2500 RPM. Vehicle would start to decrease in speed even though gas pedal was pressed all the way down.

I took it out of town on a business trip 200 miles from home..only to have it start acting up about 2hours from my destination. Going up hills, my car lost power, would no longer go above 60mph(not too safe loosing power like that when the speed limit is 75mph). You could push the accelerator all the way to the floor, and the car would not accelerate anymore..and the RPM's would not exceed 2. this happened 2 times in the next 2 hours...would last about 12-20 minutes, and then, power would come back, this same thing happened 5 more times in my next to trips, I took the car to the dealer and they blamed Nissan for the type of transmission use in this type of cars. This is not safe. In all the times I lost power going up-hill, and in those occasions there was someone behind me. Every time had to quick swerve around me, to avoid rear-ending me at 75mph, as I lost power down to -60mph.

I took a trip to Chicago going through the mountains in Tennessee. As I was going up the mountain my 2010 Nissan Rogue begin to slow down, disengage from my cruise control no matter how hard I press the petal my car would not go any faster. This occurs through out the trip to Chicago and later to North Carolina. Before taking the trips I had my ctv light come on and the car would almost cut off or stall when I came to a stop. I took that in to my Nissan person who fix that problem but could not fix my new problem but referred me to my dealer. He stated that Nissan was having problems with the cvt transmission and had extended the warranty up to $120,000. I have taken the car in to the dealers but they would only drive it around the block, no light would come, no code to fix. Please refer to the information provided by edmund.com concerning the cvt transmission problems with the Nissan 2010 rouge. There are two service bulletin that show this problem only occurs on long distance travel. Unfortunately, Nissan recommend that I continue to drive the car putting my life and family at danger until the problem occurs, only if there is a light come on then bring it in to them to fix. This is a huge safety issue, they do not want to fix the problem because the problem is the cvt new transmission. I am suppose to continue to drive and make my monthly payment even though there is a serious defect with this car. I want Nissan to purchase back this car at fair market value and I would like to see my government recall these cars before someone dies.

I have had to replace the stop light switch in the computerized engine of my Rogue. The car would not accelerate in a normal time frame from 0-15 miles per hour, 6-7 seconds to respond. It would not maintain speeds over 60 miles an hour, slowing down without any control over it. It would not respond properly when I pushed the accelerator. This was very dangerous as I impeded traffic and could not function as needed in high traffic and highway settings. As I research, I see this has been a common complaint for several years.

2010 Rogue has repeated problems with acceleration. Specifically from a stopped position. And when on a hill, if you are stopped, it won't accelerate at all, even when pushing driving pedal all the way down to the floor. On top of this, it now will not hold a cruise with cruise control on the interstate. Extremely dangerous when attempting to turn left from a stopped position without a green arrow. This is apparently, according to complaints, a very common problem, and there needs to be a recall. Have called dealership three times to schedule service and tell them about this major problem only to be told I would get a call back with no call-back. Am showing up tomorrow with my car insisting on an answer.

My car's transmission failed while driving home. I have a long commute to and from work. Luckily I was able to get home at 20 miles an hour and was not hit by a tractor trailer. My commute is a long drive on congested highways. I could have been killed. I have been having issues with the vehicle for a while. I recently had some work done to the car and bought Nissan parts, I bought 4 spark plugs and all 4 were broken/defective. I have had this car for 2 years and have major issues with it in that short span of time.

Rogue

From day one I have had nothing but problems out of my Rogue. It won't crank half the time and then it started stalling on the interstate. While trying to go over hills or trying to accelerate the rpms would rev up but the vehicle would lose speed. I would start out going over a hill doing 75 mph and by the time I reached the top of the hill I was doing 60 mph. The car actually stalled in the middle of a four way intersection and after being driven for 30 or so miles the vehicle would start missing on the interstate. I brought the vehicle to the dealership and the transmission was replaced. This has solved the speed control/stalling problem, but the new transmission doesn't want to shift gears. I was told this was an upgraded transmission with two gears and that it would shift different from a regular transmission.
