This happens every time I drive more than 50 miles at a time. If I am driving for a long time and slow down my car does not accelerate anymore. I ha E to shut my car off for at least 5 min. Before I can start driving again. Something is wrong with the power train. It struggles to keep up and almost sounds like the car is going to die. I have taken it to Nissan dealerships 3 times before my extended warrently was up and paid $100 every time they told me there was nothing wrong after the hook it up to the computer.

Rogue

  • 55,296 miles
My wife was driving this Nissan Rogue 2011 and it stopped moving. I had it towed to a Nissan dealer only to find out that the transmission was shot and needed to be replaced. It only had 55,296 miles on it at the time. This occurred on 11/21/2017. Fortunately this did not occur on a highway, but rather on a local street. I know that Nissan doubled the warranries on the cvt transmissions on the 2008 to 2010 Rogues, but not on anything after that. What a bummer!! evidently they did not fix their problems..

2011 Nissan Rogue, driving on the road, loosing power and no respond by pushing the gas pedal all the way to the floor, and on respond from the car. 50000 miles. Nissan told me to take it to dealership and have it checked. Dealer said it is transmission cooler and close to $2000 to fix it. Nissan now is refusing to pay for it. These cvt transmissions are piece of junks, and they know it too, but they keep putting this junk defect cvt design on their vehicles.. they have extended their warranty on 2008, 2009, and 2010 to 120000 miles or 10 years, so that means they are aware of the problem, but why not on 2011. What a difference ?. 2011 has the same transmission as 2008, 2009, and 2010. Government needs to make them to fix every bad cvt transmission, and Nissan needs to stop building this of crap. Other auto dealerships are laughing at Nissan with their cvt transmission design. How many complaints it takes for Nissan to get after it. Their customer service is terrible and not helpful at all.

Bob howard Nissan (132000 broadway ext, Oklahoma city, ok) was contacted and diagnosed that the transmission cooler was defective and needed to be replaced. An independent mechanic was contacted and diagnosed that the cvt transmission needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.

Power train failure!! death risk!! while on a road trip, my car completely lost power. My family and I were in complete danger. After driving about 50 miles, I lost all speed at the el cajon pass (15 fwy North, heading towards victorvile, ca). I was driving at an uphill incline when I noticed my speed was decreasing and I begain to make my way to the right. The far right lane, the "slow lane" is used by semi- trucks and even though they travel at at slow speeds they were traveling at a much higher speed. I had no choice but to cross through it and it was a miracle that we were able to get into that lane and exit the highway unharmed. I thought we were going to die smashed by an 18 wheeler. There are almost 200 complaints for this year, make, model stating the same issue just on this site, and there is many more on other sites. Please look into it before someone loses their life. Ive contacted Nissan and they refuse to acknowledge any responsibility. Nissan had to issue a recall for the exact same issue on cvt transmissions on previous models up to year 2010 but wont admit to 2011 vehicles having the same malfunctioning transmission. These vehicles are unsafe and can potentially cause preventable deaths. No one should be allowed to sell defective vehicles. Please investigate this safety hazard. Lets protect our families.

Rogue

  • 60,000 miles
I was traveling to sacramento from los angeles in Oct. 2016. After driving for about 4 hours my car started to lose speed. I pushed the pedal all the way to the floor and I could not accelerate any faster. I pulled off the freeway and waited for a little while and then got back on the road and then warning light came on and never went off. On the way home I was headed up the grapevine (I-5 South) and I lost speed again and pulled over to the truck lane going uphill and my speed dropped as low as 20 mph and that was with me pushing the pedal all the way to the floor. I had several semi-trucks behind me and could not change lanes without possibly causing an accident. I was very scared and once I made it up the hill I was able to gain a little speed going downhill and continued home. II took my car to a mechanic and he told me that it was an issue w/my transmission. I called Nissan and since I was barely over my warranty I was told that I would have to pay for my transmission myself and I was very upset as my car had just over 60,000. I started researching my issue and discovered this was a common, known problem with Nissan and Rogue's in particular. This is very dangerous and I hope they do something before someone loses their life. Having your speed drop so dramatically on a busy interstate w/several semi-trucks is very frightening. Since then I have not driven my car on trips over 2 hours away because I don't feel safe. I had this same type of problem months before on a trip to las vegas but just let it go because no warning light came on and I thought it was a fluke. I was completely shocked to see that Nissan knows of this problem w/the transmission and has done nothing to fix it. I now have a rattling noise coming from my car and I'm afraid to see what that is going to cost me. I only drive to/from work and work less than 5 miles from my home. Ugh!!

I was on the thruway/highway and my rpms got higher and higher, even though my cruise control was on. Engine was revving up, and suddenly lost power to the car, even though the gas pedal was to the ground. Thankfully, traffic was slow and I was lucky. I pulled over and called geico for a tow truck.

Rogue

  • 100,000 miles
With low miles on my car I had a complete cvt transmission failure without warning. It started with one bump backing up. I pulled out and had power loss for a short while. When I tried to pull out into traffic again, I almost got hit and the car bucked as I crossed the road and tried to make it to a nearby parking lot. I could only go about 10 mph and it felt like the front end was going to drop as it bucked down the road. When I made it to the parking lot, it wouldn't move at all and it had to be pulled onto a flat bed. The transmission shop, recommended a new transmission because it would be cheaper than trying to rebuild the cvt transmission. As they tried to find a transmission for my vehicle, they said they found many that were pulled due to damage which told them the Nissan cvt transmission was junk. They recommended that I use it til the new warranty expired and then maybe sell the vehicle. I was the only driver of the car and babied it and changed the fluids and ended up trading the car on another as I could not trust the Rogue to be safe pulling into traffic as it failed us and almost got us hit. The car is sold, but I want it on record how dangerous the situation was when the cvt transmission went out without any warning beforehand.

In response to the car shuttering around 25 to 35 mph, we took the car to our local mechanic. He reports that there is a problem with the torque converter and will require a transmission replacement by a Nissan dealer because he was aware of all of the problems that Nissan was having. He informed of of a national recall on earlier models for the same reason. He stated that they clearly have not corrected the problem. With further on-line research, we have confirmed that this is a common problem with the 2011 models.

Rogue

  • 109,000 miles
We purchased a 2011 Nissan Rogue at the end of 2010, and it was a good car in the beginning, however, I started to notice small things here and there that weren't that great. But they would come and go. Then one day I opened the left rear door handle, and it broke off!! it looked like a cheap piece of plastic you see at the dollar store. I took it to Nissan and they wanted $550!!! ridiculous! I found a good honest mechanic place and they even reduced the cost since it only took them 15 mins to replace it! only costed me $80! so now and again it has also been losing rpms and having difficulty speeding up. My husband was driving from work and on the freeway, and the rpms stopped at 4000 and froze. I wouldn't go over 60mph! he was scared and pulled over to the side of the road. He checked the oil (it was perfect), the inside and saw nothing. He said he smelt a fire type smell while in the inside of the car, but no fires. He slowly got over and pulled off of the freeway and into a car place to have it looked at. I called Nissan as the technician stated that there was a recall on the nisan Rogue. I called Nissan and they stated that it was the 2010 Rogue. Mine is the 2011 Rogue which was purchased at the end of 2010. So I am suppose to believe that they somehow put a better cvt transmission in my Rogue which is not that far off from the 2010 that has an extended warranty and recall on it?? hardly, I have seen many many other complaints from people about this vehicle and exact year. I've even called about our Rogue a few times when I've heard about recalls, but they've always told me it's only 2010 and my car should be fine. Obviously it's not fine, and the car is crap. Nissan should stand by their products, and they are not. They will continue to lose good customers that are hard working americans who pay their bills.
