9/6/18 - I have a 2013 Nissan Rogue, at at 63k miles. I get an oil change and all services suggested at all times. 3 months ago I was driving through Nevada when the cruise control dropped and my car would not accelerate more than 30 miles per hours. No light ever came on, RPM's stayed normal - there was just no power to get the car going. This was a real issue when I'm attempting to drive 900 miles to my sisters wedding. This has happened to me 6 times since. Each time while I am going at highway speeds for long periods of time. Day to day its not an issue. Each time it gets worse and worse and I just want to burn this car to the ground. It has put me in life or death situations when a semi truck or any car at high speeds come up behind me and my car suddenly stops moving without notice. Mechanics have tried to recreate the issue and of course it never happens to them but it always seems to happen to me, I even have witnesses, when I am traveling for vacation.

Stay away from this garbage piece of car.

Rogue

  • CVT transmission
  • 82,000 miles

I took my car to the Nissan dealership to learn that Nissan is aware of that the vehicles are losing power after driving at speeds of 65 MPH or more for 1.5 hours or more. The part is over $700 to "fix" it... and Nissan has not issued a recall. I have complained to Nissan, and reported it to the NHTSA. I would recommend everyone having similar issues report the issue at safecar.gov so that they will open an investigation and hopefully force Nissan to issue a recall!

On Saturday, June 11, 2016 I was driving home from a town 60 miles away. About 20 miles away my cruise control disengaged. My speed went from 80 mph to 65mph. At that time I knew my car had gone into fail safe mode. I had no power when I pressed the accelerator. I didn't have any place to pull over. The fastest I was able to go was 65 mph. So on a 2 lane highway I had to move to the right as much as I could to let other vehicles pass. Once I got to town I had to stop at the traffic light. When I was able to proceed I had little power when I pressed the accelerator. My speed gradually increased until I was actually going the speed limit of 30 mph. During this incident the check engine light came on.
