Rogue SV

  • CVT transmission
  • 61,868 miles

2014 Nissan Rogue SV 61,868 miles with recurring acceleration issues. Started about one year ago wife called and said that vehicle was making loud revving sound but not moving or barely moving while stepping on gas. She stated car was stalling out at intersection or while in moving traffic. Not turning off but not moving while stepping on gas. She park car at work and drove home with no problem. Several months ago same thing no or poor acceleration while stepping on gas while at intersections or in moving traffic. I picked it up from work and drive home with no problem. This has occurred on several addition days but not has bad. Vehicle shakes and makes revving noises while driving.

Fast forward to today wife calls says she is stuck on highway. Stated that vehicle had no acceleration and she was barley able to get it into emergency lane before it wouldn't move at all. Chassis Control System Error message appeared on dash display along with other lights like engine light.

Vehicle was towed to Nissan dealer for inspection.

Beginning to think I purchased a piece of junk.

After reading several post regarding similar issue and no resolve from Nissan I am a little worried. Not only is this a dangerous safety issue but will probably be a huge expense to correct if Nissan does not help out. Vehicle is just above 60,000 Powertrain Warranty. Luckily I have Geico mechanical breakdown insurance. Will just wait and see what happens.

On 1-13-16 my wife mentioned to me that on her way to work she stopped at the store and upon returning her vehicle would not reverse out of the parking space while it was placed in reverse. She said it took about 3/4 attempts before the vehicle finally actually reversed. Then on her way from work that same day as she was coming to a stop at a red light the vehicle began to shake very noticeably and shut off. She said it took about 3/4 attempts before the engine turned on and allowed her to drive forward. Upon hearing about it, I immediately took it into Nissan to get checked. Since there was no check engine light the Nissan service dept. couldn't find any issues and determined nothing was wrong with it. I then drove it over the next two days and although it never did shut off on me, it would shake horribly upon acceleration, usually from 1st to 2nd and/or 2nd to 3rd gear. Finally after the 3rd day I noticed it wasn't doing it anymore so we decided to take it on a short trip we had for that weekend, and zero issues. Now exactly one week later, my wife called me while with her mother running errands, that it was doing it again and had already shut off on her once. I told her to take it straight to Nissan and I would meet her there. I asked the same service person who had checked it the week before to take it on a drive and he immediately noticed the shaking/shuttering while in drive. Although there was no check engine light, he did determine something was wrong with it and asked to leave it for further inspection. He is suppose to get in contact with me today 1-22-16 with what I hope is a diagnostic and a solution. I will update ASAP.
