Drain tubes from the sunroof keep clogging and water pools un in the interior. Makes you scared to drive the car or leave the car out in the rain.

Rogue SL AWD 2.5L 4-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 32,000 miles

About two weeks ago, my wife called me to complain that, after a heavy rainfall, there was water leaking inside of our 2014 Nissan Rogue SL AWD w/premium package, from the panoramic sunroof, even though both the sunroof and the interior cover were both closed. This, of course, prompted us to take it to the dealer in order to get it fixed. (Mind you, we have had other problems with the sunroof before wherein it rattled and creaked far more than acceptable, and had to bring it in to get it readjusted.)

Turns out, the problem was huge since, according to them, they reported that the drains for the sunroof were hopelessly clogged. We still haven't gotten our car back, and we left it with them at the dealer last week. They have had to remove and re-order the headliner, carpeting and interior dashboard materials. They explained that the drains weren't working since they were super clogged, that there was a large amount of water collected under the passenger's side seat, which prompted them to have to remove the carpeting, in addition to the headliner, which was also wet. When I last called to check on the status of the car, they said that "if I saw it, I wouldn't recognize it" as it was, basically, "a shell with no seats, headliner, or carpeting inside." They've had to order and replace so many parts on it because of this leak.

Now, they haven't mentioned anything, yet, about us having to pay for it. But, I certainly hope that they don't since nothing that we did caused this leak. We, very sparingly, even use the sunroof and have NEVER left it open when we have parked the car and, even less so, during any rainy days. We have used the sunroof as it has been intended to be used. And, through no fault of our own, this leak has occurred.

Our Rogue is leased, but we were seriously considering keeping it after the lease since we love it so much. However, after this problem, we're definitely not gonna keep it since it can, inevitably, cause other problems, or it can happen again or, at the very least, the interior won't be the same cuz, no matter how well they put everything back together, they can never get it as it was originally done at the factory. So, suffice to say, we're saddened by this problem.

Rogue SV 2.5L

  • CVT transmission
  • 2,600 miles

I bought a Nissan Rogue 2014 SV full package with moon roof, on December 2013. I am guessing it was one of the first 100 out in the market at this time. Since than I had to come back to the dealer few times:

* First it was missing All wheel drive Harness, they simply forgot to install it on my car. I noticed it after few days, there was no AWD nor Hill descent, the part was ordered and installed. It kind of makes you think, what else did they forget to install?. * Second issue was inside paneling in some places it didn’t align, somewhat fixed. * Third, exterior trim around the driver window and rubber seal come off, it doesn’t hold to the door, part was ordered, still waiting to be installed. I am curious what else is going to get loose on this brand new car. * Fourth and the best one yet, I noticed that area under passenger seat is moist, I thought it was spilled water and ignored this at first, but it kept coming back more and more, took it to the dealer. Dealer said it was clogged sun roof drain, he said it was fixed at the time , few days passed since then and today it is a really rainy day. I went to check on the car and to my surprise I notice around 1” of water under passenger car.

Going to the dealer tomorrow morning.

I use this car only on weekend with 2600 miles done it seems as too many issues in a very short time. Those are straight facts, do what you will, I am fairly disappointed!!

Rogue SV

  • CVT transmission
  • 5,130 miles

Just noticed water leaking form top of tailgate of my 2104 Nissan Rogue SV AWD that I purchased January 2013. Rear cargo area is soaked. Noticed water before but not as bad and thought it was from opening tailgate after rain or car wash. Car is less than 3 months old.

Update from Oct 7, 2016: This was a known issue with some Nissan Rogue models and was repaired by dealer. They had to remove tailgate glass an reset it properly.
